Board and train, Fulshear

Board and train in Fulshear: Cross Creek Ranch and acreage west of Katy

Fulshear is where Katy's master-planned sections give way to acreage and horses, and a dog that is fine on a Cross Creek sidewalk can be a different animal on five acres with deer at the tree line. The stay is built for whichever Fulshear you live in, and the handover happens there.

The stay, from Fulshear

Pickup from Cross Creek or the acreage, and a handover where the dog lives.

Fulshear is a real drive from Cypress, so the $250 transport is the natural choice: we collect the dog at the door or the gate, the drive is its first field trip, and at the end of the program we bring it home and run the go-home session where it lives, on the Cross Creek trails and at the pool gate for a subdivision dog, at the fence line, the barn and the gate for an acreage dog. Drop-off families do the handover in Cypress. Your dog lives in our house, not a kennel, and you hear from us on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

An acreage dog's stay is built around drive: engagement, a structured heel, place with real duration, an outlet with rules, and a recall on a long line in open fields before anything is trusted loose.

What a Fulshear dog learns

Two Fulshears, two curriculums.

Cross Creek Ranch dogs are Katy dogs: doodles and Labs with too much energy, pulling on the trails, barking at the window, jumping on guests, and Gold handles them. Acreage dogs are different: shepherds, Malinois, cattle dogs and livestock guardians that chase deer, harass the horses, bark at the fence all night and treat a visitor's truck as an intruder. Platinum builds boundaries at the property line, neutrality to horses and cattle, a recall around wildlife and a calm greeting at the gate, with unlimited lessons afterwards. VIP finishes it off leash with the Mini-Educator walked across your own property at the handover. Our founder's background with horses is the reason the barn is on the curriculum.

  • Boundaries at the fence line without a physical fence
  • Calm around horses, cattle and the barn cats
  • A recall that beats a deer at the tree line
  • A calm greeting for the truck at the gate

Fulshear specifics

Open land in summer, coyotes at dusk and the Cross Creek lakes.

Summer on open acreage is brutal for a working breed that will run itself into heat stroke, so the field work runs at dawn and dusk from May to September with water every fifteen minutes and a hard stop. Coyotes are common west of Katy and will lead a chasing dog away and turn on it; the recall is built for that before any freedom. The Cross Creek Ranch lakes are for recall on a long line at the edge and not for swimming, with alligators possible in the warm months. The section's association enforces leash and barking rules, and the quiet cue is part of every subdivision stay.

  • Lakes for the long line, not swimming

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Do you pick up on acreage in Fulshear?

Yes. The $250 transportation service collects your dog from Cross Creek Ranch, Fulshear proper or an acreage address, returns it at the end of the stay and includes the first lesson on your property. VIP includes it.

Can you teach a dog to stay on our land without a fence?

Boundaries are taught with a long line and a clear edge, then proofed with the Mini-Educator in the VIP program for complete reliability. It is weeks of work, and it stays reliable only with the lessons VIP includes afterwards.

My dog harasses the horses. Is that trainable?

Yes. Calm around livestock is built the same way as any neutrality: structure first, then the animals at a distance the dog can manage, closing over days. Our founder grew up training horses, and the barn is part of the acreage curriculum.

How far is Fulshear from the training home?

About 35 to 45 minutes to Cypress via Grand Parkway and 290 outside rush hour. Most Fulshear families take the pickup; drop-off families do the go-home session in Cypress.
