In-home dog training in Towne Lake: the boardwalk, the lake and your own street
Towne Lake is the one neighborhood where the choice between a lesson at home and a lesson in Cypress is not decided by distance, so the deciding question is where the problem lives. If it lives at your dock, your back gate or on your street, we come to you.

- Drive to the training home
- About ten minutes to the training home outside rush hour; Towne Lake is part of Cypress, so the $160 lesson at our place is a real alternative.
- Pickup and delivery
- $250 door-to-door pickup and return for a stay, with the first lesson at your Towne Lake home included; part of VIP, and rarely needed at this distance.
- The go-home session
- At the training home in Cypress for families who drop off; at your house and dock for transport families and every VIP graduate.
- Where we train near you
- the boardwalk and its patios · the lakeside parks and docks · the pet and hardware stores on Barker Cypress and 290 · the neighborhood trails around the lake
- Homes and yards
- Lake lots with docks and boats, master-planned sections under HOA rules, pools in most backyards; Labs, goldens, doodles and Bernese mountain dogs.

At your house
A Towne Lake lesson runs from your front door to your dock and back.
We start inside with the dog loose and the family doing what it normally does. In a Towne Lake house that usually means a back door that opens toward the water, a pool gate, and a retriever that has learned the sound of a boat key. Our trainer watches the greeting, the door and the pull toward the lake, and asks what you have already tried. Fifteen minutes in, we know which two or three pieces to work first.
The hands-on part follows one pattern: our trainer handles the dog through the first repetitions so you can see how little leash pressure a loose leash takes and what a real place looks like, and then you hold the leash with coaching. The reps happen where the dog fails. If that is the dock, we go there with a long line and build a wait at the edge before any release into the water. If it is the walk, we go down your street toward the boardwalk and turn back before the dog is over its head.
Before we leave you have the plan on paper: which drills, in which order, how many minutes a day, and which situations to manage rather than practice until the next visit. Questions between lessons go to our team by phone, six in the morning to nine at night, every day of the week, and the next visit opens with whatever slipped.
The walk-through: the dog loose, the back door and the pool gate as they are, and your list.
Gear check: collar, leash, a long line for the dock, and the bed that becomes the place spot.

You on the leash, repeating the door, the sidewalk and the wait at the water until each holds.

What we see
Three Towne Lake problems: the dock, the boardwalk patio and the neighbor's retriever.
The first problem is the water. A Lab or golden that owns the lake goes off the dock the moment the door opens, ignores its name once it is wet and climbs onto the boat uninvited. The second is the boardwalk: a doodle that cannot lie under a patio table for the length of a meal and strains toward every dog that passes. The third is the street, where a retriever lives in most backyards and a friendly dog drags its owner to every fence line.
All three are manners problems, and all three can be taught at your house because the trigger is at your house. A wait at the dock is built on a long line at your own dock. The patio settle is place under distraction, started in your living room and taken to the boardwalk when it holds. The fence-line pull is a loose leash on your street, one neighbor's dog at a time.
- Off the dock without permission and deaf to a recall once wet
- No settle under a boardwalk patio table for the length of dinner
- Pulling toward every fence with a retriever behind it
- A Bernese or shepherd that barks at boats going past the yard
Lessons or a stay
Ten minutes from the training home, so a stay is easy, but it is only right for some dogs.
Because Cypress is so close, Towne Lake families sometimes book a stay when lessons would do, and sometimes book lessons when the dog needs a stay. The honest line: a dog that already knows a few things and lives with a family that will practice daily gets what it needs from four to six lessons at $220. A dog that lunges at dogs on the boardwalk, guards the dock from passing boats or has never learned to settle needs daily structure, which is two weeks of Gold at $2,500 or three weeks of Platinum at $3,750 in our trainer's home.
Platinum is the usual answer for the boardwalk dog because the boardwalk is one of our regular field trips, so the settle is proofed on it before the dog comes home, and the unlimited lessons afterwards happen on your street. The free consultation call sorts this out in a few minutes, and our team points to lessons whenever lessons will work.
- Lessons: some foundation, a family with time, a problem that lives at your address
- Gold: the whole manners set for a dog starting from nothing
- Platinum: the boardwalk lunger and the dock guarder, with lessons afterwards
- The bundle: a puppy under four months, four sessions at your house

The programs
Lessons at your dock, a stay when the dog needs more.
In-home lessons are $220 in Towne Lake and $160 at the training home ten minutes away. Puppies under four months take the bundle; a dog that needs the whole foundation takes Gold or Platinum in Cypress with lessons afterwards.
Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Is it worth paying $220 at home when Cypress is ten minutes away?
For the dock, the pool gate and the greeting at your door, yes, because those problems only happen at your address and the dog has to learn the rule where it breaks it. For a puppy's first sits or a dog that needs practice around other dogs, the $160 lesson in Cypress is the better value. Plenty of Towne Lake families mix the two.
Can one lesson stop our Lab from jumping off the dock?
One lesson installs the wait at the edge on a long line and shows you how to hold it; it does not make the dog reliable. Water is the strongest reward a retriever knows, so the wait needs daily reps for a couple of weeks, on the line and then without it. Two or three lessons usually get a Towne Lake Lab to a release word it respects.
Do you take the dog to the boardwalk during a lesson?
Not on the first visit. The boardwalk is the exam rather than the classroom, so we build the settle and the loose leash at your house, then take the third or fourth lesson to a patio at a quiet hour. In summer that visit is booked early or late, since the lakeside paths have long stretches without shade.
Our puppy is twelve weeks old. Which option fits?
The Puppy Development Bundle: four sessions of 45 to 60 minutes at your house for $750, or $550 if you bring the puppy to Cypress. It covers sit, place, stay, recall, crate and potty guidance, and the nipping and jumping that show up around now. Water introductions at your dock can be part of it once the puppy is comfortable on a long line.
