Board and train, Towne Lake
Board and train in Towne Lake: the boardwalk, the lake and a lot of retrievers
The Towne Lake boardwalk is our favorite final exam and the lake near the training home is where the water work gets built, which makes a Towne Lake dog the best-served dog in Houston: proofed on the patio it will eat at and handed back at the dock it will jump from.

The stay, from Towne Lake
A ten-minute drop-off and a stay that ends on the boardwalk.
Towne Lake families drop off in ten minutes and get their dog back in ten minutes, with follow-up lessons that cost our trainers no travel time. The stay itself runs like every other: the crate and the house on day one, daily training from day two, and updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. What is different is the ending: the boardwalk is a regular field trip, so a Towne Lake Platinum dog holds place under a patio table with boats coming in before the family ever tries it, and a VIP or transport family gets the water manners handed over at their own dock.
Water work happens at the lake near the training home on a long line first, because the line is the insurance until the recall out of the water is proven.

What a Towne Lake dog learns
A wait at the dock, a recall out of the water and a settle on the boardwalk.
The Towne Lake Lab owns the lake: off the dock without permission, onto the boat and off it, deaf to its name once it is wet. The doodle cannot settle on the boardwalk patio and lunges at every dog that walks by. The Bernese guards the dock and the yard from the boats going past. Platinum builds a wait at the edge and a recall out of the water on a long line, a settle under a patio table proven on the boardwalk itself, and neutrality to boats, bikes and dogs from the yard, with unlimited lessons afterwards. Gold covers the manners for a dog that is calm around water. VIP finishes the dog off leash on the lakeside paths with the Mini-Educator.
- A wait at the dock and on the boat until released
- A recall out of the water that beats birds
- A settle on the boardwalk patios for the length of dinner
- Neutrality to boats and bikes from the yard

Towne Lake specifics
Boats, the biggest private lake in Houston, and summer on the water.
Towne Lake's boats and docks make the wait at the edge a safety skill: a dog one lunge from a swim among the boats is a dog that needs it. Any large Texas lake can hold an alligator in the warm months, and the leash stays on near the bank until the recall is proven. Summer on the water is a heat problem too; a wet dog cools, but a dog on a dock at noon does not, and the pavement test applies to boards. The boardwalk is best after sunset from May to September, and that is when the summer field trips go.
- The wait at the edge as a safety skill among the boats
- Leashed near the bank in the warm months
- The pavement test on the boards
- Evening boardwalk trips in summer

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Can you teach my dog to stay off the dock until released?
Yes. A wait at the water's edge and a recall out of the lake are built on a long line at the lake near the training home and transferred to your own dock at the go-home session. It is standard Platinum work for a Towne Lake dog.
Do you train on the Towne Lake boardwalk?
Regularly. It is one of the best exposure environments in northwest Houston and our favorite final exam: patios, strollers, boats and other dogs. Platinum and VIP dogs are proofed there before they go home.
How far is Towne Lake from the training home?
About ten minutes; Towne Lake is part of Cypress. Drop-off, the go-home session and follow-up lessons are all short trips, and the transport is rarely needed.
Which program for a doodle that cannot settle on the patio?
Gold if the dog only lacks an off switch, Platinum if it also lunges at other dogs while it fails to settle. Both build place with duration and prove it on real patios, and our team will say which on the free call.
