Dog training in Tanglewood: Galleria-side homes and busy streets
Tanglewood is big lots on quiet loops a block from some of the busiest streets in Houston, and its dogs live in both worlds: a calm walk under the oaks, then Post Oak Boulevard, valets and patios. The dogs we see from Tanglewood are doodles, Labs and small breeds whose manners hold on the loop and fall apart on the boulevard.

How it works from Tanglewood
A trainer at your house, or a stay with the handover on your loop.
Tanglewood is a lesson neighborhood first: $220 a session at your house, working the walk on your loop, the front door the deliveries come through and the patio you go to on Post Oak. A dog that needs a full reset takes a stay in the training home in Cypress, about 35 minutes up 610 and 290, and most Tanglewood families add the $250 transport so the handover happens at home.
For the length of the stay your dog is part of the household in Cypress, and photo and video updates arrive on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
- In-home lessons, $220 per session
- Board and train in a house in Cypress
- $250 transport with the handover on your loop
- Updates three times a week
Tanglewood dogs
Perfect on the loop, impossible on the boulevard.
The Tanglewood dog walks nicely under the oaks and loses its mind two blocks over: a doodle that lunges at the valet stand, a Cavalier that barks at every stroller on Post Oak, a Lab that cannot settle under a patio table with the traffic going by. At home the problem is the door, because a Tanglewood house gets more deliveries in a day than most get in a week.
Neutrality is the answer to the boulevard: structure first, then the triggers at a distance the dog can hold, closer over days, until Post Oak is background noise. Door manners handle the deliveries. Gold covers the manners; Platinum covers the lunging and comes with unlimited lessons afterwards, on your own loop and your own patio.
- A loose leash on Post Oak past valets and strollers
- Quiet at the door through a day of deliveries
- A settle on an Uptown Park patio
- A calm walk on the loop that survives the boulevard
Where we train near you
The loop, Post Oak and Memorial Park.
Lessons and go-home sessions in Tanglewood start on your own loop, then move to Tanglewood Park for recall on a long line, the Post Oak and Uptown Park patios for the settle, Memorial Park for distance and neutrality, and the pet stores on San Felipe and Westheimer for cart-and-crowd work. In the stay itself the same skills are installed around the training home and stress-tested on outings of increasing difficulty.
The boulevard is hot and bright by mid-morning in summer; from May to September the busy-street work happens early and late, and the store aisles carry the afternoons.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Do you come to Tanglewood for lessons?
Yes. In-home lessons are $220 per session across Tanglewood, the Galleria area, Briargrove and Memorial. Most families book four to six for the sidewalk and the door, or use them after a stay.
How far is Tanglewood from the training home?
About 30 to 40 minutes to Cypress via 610 and 290 outside rush hour. Drop off yourself or take the $250 transport, which includes the first lesson at your house.
Can you fix a dog that lunges at the valet stand?
Yes. That is reactivity to people and movement, and it is worked at a distance the dog can hold, closer over days, with structure underneath. Platinum does that for three weeks and includes unlimited lessons afterwards on Post Oak itself.
Our house gets deliveries all day. Can the door be fixed?
Yes. Door manners are a threshold rule: place or a sit before the door opens, every time, for every delivery. It is built in every stay with real deliveries and taught at your own door in the go-home session.
