Board and train, Memorial

Board and train in Memorial: the park loops, townhomes and the villages

Memorial dogs walk the park loop, the bayou trails and the sidewalks of the villages more than most Houston dogs, and the loop is where their manners fall apart: a runner every seven seconds, a dog every thirty. The stay is built to put a dog back on that loop on a slack leash.

The stay, from Memorial

Close enough to drop off, and the loop is the handover for families who take transport.

Memorial is one of the closer inner-city areas to the training home, and families often drive out to Cypress for drop-off and the go-home session. The $250 transport suits a townhome dog whose problems are the elevator, the stairwell and the narrow sidewalk, because the handover then happens in the building and on the loop. Your dog lives in our house, crated at night, and is trained every day at home and on field trips, with updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The last field trips for a Memorial Platinum dog head into the city: the wooded trails at Memorial Park at a quiet hour, then the loop, then a CityCentre patio, so the dog has passed the exam before the family takes the leash.

What a Memorial dog learns

The loop, the elevator and the dinner party.

Three Memorial dogs: the doodle that pulls around the park loop and lunges at every runner; the French bulldog in a CityCentre townhome that barks at the hallway and refuses the elevator; the Lab in a village house that cannot be in the room when guests come for dinner. Gold builds place, the structured walk, the door routine and impulse control in two weeks. Platinum builds neutrality to runners, bikes and dogs at a distance that closes over days, confidence in tight spaces for the townhome dog, and place through a dinner party, with unlimited lessons afterwards. VIP goes on to off-leash reliability wherever the park rules allow it.

  • A loose leash on the park loop past runners and dogs
  • Calm in an elevator, a stairwell and a hallway
  • Place through a dinner party
  • Quiet at the window on a busy street

Memorial specifics

Hot loop, shaded trails and the bayou next door.

The Memorial Park loop is hot by eight in a Houston summer and the wooded trails stay usable a couple of hours longer, so summer field trips and go-home sessions use the trails and the store aisles along I-10 carry the afternoons. Buffalo Bayou and Terry Hershey run beside the neighborhood and the leash stays on near the water in every season because of the alligators. Village lots have gates, staff and deliveries all day, and the door routine is built with real arrivals; townhomes have elevators, and the handover is run in the building for families who take the transport.

  • Wooded trails in summer, the loop in the cool months
  • Leashed near the bayou, always
  • Door work with real deliveries for the villages
  • The elevator and the hallway for townhome dogs

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

How far is Memorial from the training home?

About 25 to 35 minutes to Cypress via I-10 and 290 outside rush hour. Memorial families often drop off and pick up themselves; the $250 transport is there for a townhome dog whose handover belongs in the building and on the loop.

Will my dog be trained at Memorial Park?

The last field trips for a Memorial Platinum dog use the wooded trails and then the loop, and the go-home session for transport families happens there or in your townhome. The loop is the exam a Memorial dog has to pass.

Can you help a dog that refuses the elevator?

Yes. Confidence in tight spaces is exposure at a distance the dog can hold, closer over days, with structure underneath. With the transport, the handover happens in your building so the elevator and the stairwell are practiced where they matter.

Which program for a doodle that lunges at runners on the loop?

Platinum. Three weeks builds neutrality on real trails with real runners and dogs, and the unlimited lessons afterwards teach you the handling on the loop yourself.
