In-home dog training in Energy Corridor: Terry Hershey Park and the townhome life
Energy Corridor dogs live two lives: alone in a townhome from seven to seven, then on the bayou trail all weekend with an owner who wants the walk to be the good part of the week. An evening lesson at your address fixes the hallway, the door and the leash where they fail.

What we see
Hallway barking, trail lunging and a greeting like a storm: the corridor's three.
The townhome dog barks at footsteps in the hallway, balks at the garage door and greets a tired owner at seven in the evening by launching. The trail dog spends the week under-walked, then gets two hours on Terry Hershey on Saturday and cannot cope: pulling toward every dog, lunging at cyclists, ignoring its name along the water. The house dog in Nottingham Forest or Briar Forest barks at the window at every walker and drags the family past the neighbor's Lab.
A fourth pattern belongs to the corridor's international families: a dog relocated from another country, sometimes another climate, that has never met a Houston summer, a Texas trail or a garage. Every one of these is teachable at home, with one exception. Lunging at bikes and dogs that has become reactivity needs daily controlled exposure, and that is a stay.

At your house
An evening lesson at an Energy Corridor address, start to finish.
We book corridor lessons in the evening or on a weekend morning, because that is when the household is home, and the first fifteen minutes go to watching the dog move through the space with everyone doing what they normally do. In a townhome that is the hallway, the stairs and the garage; in a house it is the front door and the window. We ask who walks the dog on weekdays, because a walker who lets it pull at noon undoes your morning.
Then the leash. Our trainer runs each exercise first so you see the amount of pressure and reward it takes, and then you take over with coaching: a sit before the door opens, place in the living room while someone comes in, a heel down your street or along the quiet end of the trail. Each repetition rewards the right choice and gives a fair, consistent consequence for the wrong one.
The plan you keep is built around the real schedule: three short sessions a day, one of which can be the walker's, and which parts of the trail to skip until the dog is ready. Our team is on the phone between lessons from six in the morning to nine at night, wherever in the world you happen to be calling from.
Watch the dog loose while the evening runs as usual.
Check the gear and retire a harness that rewards pulling.
Threshold work at the door you use most, a sit or a place before it opens.
Your street or the quiet end of the trail, our trainer first, then you.
Place through a full arrival, then the written plan and the walker's copy.
Lessons or a stay
Lessons for the door and the hallway; a stay timed to travel for the rest.
Four to six lessons at $220 fix the door, the hallway and the neighborhood walk for a dog with some foundation and a household that can practice in the evenings. Two things push a corridor dog toward a stay instead: reactivity on the trail, which needs exposure work every day at a distance the dog can handle, and the calendar, since a rotation or a long trip is a natural two or three weeks for the dog to be trained rather than boarded.
Gold is two weeks at $2,500 and builds the off switch, place, the walk and door manners. Platinum is three weeks at $3,750, adds the behavior work for the bike lunger, uses Terry Hershey as a field trip, and includes unlimited private lessons afterwards. With the $250 transport we collect the dog before you fly and run the go-home session in your home when you are back. The free consultation call settles which route fits.
| In-home lessons | Gold or Platinum stay | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | $220 per lesson, four to six typical | $2,500 for two weeks; $3,750 for three |
| Fits | The door, the hallway, the neighborhood walk | Trail reactivity, no foundation, a trip on the calendar |
| Your time | Evenings, three short sessions a day | The go-home session, then follow-up lessons |
| Transport | Not needed | $250 both ways with the first lesson at home, included in VIP |
| Where the dog sleeps | Home | Our trainer's home in Cypress, never a kennel |
Around the corridor
Terry Hershey, the CityCentre patios and the I-10 stores, when the house is calm.
The trail is the exam, not the first classroom. The progression is your street, then the quieter sidewalks of Nottingham Forest or Briar Forest, then a weekday stretch of Terry Hershey Park with few bikes, then the weekend crowd. The settle is practiced at the CityCentre patios, and the stores along I-10 and Highway 6 give a dog not ready for the trail a place to practice neutrality around carts.
From May to September the paved sections of the trail fail the hand test by nine, so summer lessons run early and late. The bayou carries alligators and mosquitoes in the warm months, so the leash stays on near the water and heartworm prevention runs all year. Terry Hershey is a Harris County Precinct 3 park; check the precinct's site for current hours and leash rules.
- Your street, then Nottingham Forest sidewalks, then the trail at a quiet hour
- CityCentre patios for the settle
- The I-10 and Highway 6 stores for neutrality
- Leash on near the bayou, all year

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Can you come after work?
Yes. Our hours are six in the morning to nine at night, seven days, and most Energy Corridor lessons are booked for early evening or a weekend morning so the people who live with the dog are home. If a dog walker handles the weekday walks, ask them to join the walking part and take a copy of the plan.
Will a lesson fix our dog's lunging at bikes on Terry Hershey?
If it is excitement in a dog with some training, a few lessons on your street and then on a quiet stretch of the trail usually do. If it is reactivity, with the dog fixated and unable to take food or hear you, weekly visits cannot supply the daily controlled exposure it needs. That is three weeks of Platinum, with lessons on the trail afterwards.
We are relocating to Houston with our dog. When should the first lesson be?
The first or second week in the new home, before the dog has rehearsed hallway barking or trail pulling for a month. A relocation lesson covers the garage, the stairs, a first look at the bayou on a long line and a plan for the heat, which for a dog from a cooler country is the biggest change of all.
Can a lesson help with a dog that is destructive when left alone?
Often, if it is boredom and lack of structure rather than panic. A lesson sets up crate calm, place, exercise before work and a short leaving routine, and the plan runs it daily. True separation anxiety, with a dog that injures itself or destroys doors, needs the daily structure of a stay, and our team will say which.
