Board and train, Cane Island
Board and train in Cane Island: for Cane Island and west Katy
Cane Island is new houses, small fenced yards and a lot of first-time owners whose puppy has become a 70-pound adolescent with opinions about the front door. The stay gives that dog a threshold rule, a loose leash for the community trails and a settle for the amenity center.

The stay, from Cane Island
I-10 to 99 to 290, and the go-home session back in Cypress.
Cane Island to the training home is I-10 east to the Grand Parkway, north to 290, about 35 minutes outside rush hour. Most families drive: a morning drop-off with the dog's food, vaccination records and any medication, a few minutes with our trainer, and the return trip at the end for the go-home session at the training home. The $250 transport is for families who want our trainer at their front door for the handover; VIP includes it as standard.
Day one is quiet on purpose. From day two the dog trains in the house, on the sidewalks around it, in the hardware and pet store aisles along 290 and at the lake, every day, and the photos and clips on Monday, Wednesday and Friday show it. For first-time owners the go-home session is the most important hour of the program: it is where you learn the leash, the place command and the door, and our trainer does not rush it.

What a Cane Island dog practices
The threshold, the trail, the amenity center and the Katy Mills aisles.
The front door is the Cane Island problem. New houses have the door a few steps from the sidewalk, and an adolescent dog that bolts through it is loose on a street of other new dogs. The threshold rule is built in the first days of the stay and proofed with visitors, deliveries and the doorbell. The small fenced yard means the trail is the real exercise, so the structured walk past strollers, bikes and every neighbor's dog is built on quiet streets and proofed in public during Platinum field trips.
The amenity center and the Katy Mills area stores are where a family wants to bring the dog, and the settle for both is taught in the store aisles on 290 first. Mary Jo Peckham Park in Katy, a Harris County Precinct 3 park, is a good follow-up venue for trail work; the precinct's page has the rules, and the City of Katy's site covers the city's own parks. Summer work runs early and late from May through September, with the pavement tested before every walk.

Which program
Gold for the first-time family, Platinum if the adolescent has started to lunge.
Gold, two weeks at $2,500, is the Cane Island stay: sit, place, the structured walk, door boundaries, no jumping and impulse control for a friendly adolescent, with a go-home session and one more lesson that a first-time owner will use. Platinum, three weeks at $3,750, is for the dog that has started barking and lunging at other dogs on the trail, guarding the front door or panicking when the family leaves for work, with behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterward.
VIP, six weeks at $10,000, is the finished off-leash dog: Mini-Educator included, transport and an in-home handover included, unlimited in-home lessons. It is rarely the right first stay for a first dog, and our team will say so. A puppy under four months belongs in the Puppy Development Bundle first, four private sessions for $550 in Cypress or $750 at your home.
- Gold: the friendly adolescent and the first-time family
- Platinum: trail lunging, door guarding, separation panic
- Puppy bundle for a puppy under four months
Prices and the deposit
Cane Island pays the published price and usually skips the ride.
The prices are Gold $2,500, Platinum $3,750 and VIP $10,000. A $250 reservation deposit secures the dates and is credited to the balance. Transport is $250 for pickup and return with the first lesson at your home, a choice at 35 minutes rather than a need, and VIP includes it. First-time owners sometimes add it anyway so the handover happens at their own front door, which is where the dog's worst habit lives; that is a reasonable use of $250.
| Program | Length | Price | After the stay |

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
How far is Cane Island from the training home?
About 35 minutes outside rush hour, taking I-10 east to 99, north to 290 and a few minutes into Cypress. It is a comfortable drive for drop-off and the go-home session, and the $250 transport is there for families who would rather have the handover at their door.
We have never owned a dog. Will we be able to keep the training going?
Yes, that is what the go-home session is for. Our trainer teaches you the leash, the place command and the door routine until you can do them, not just watch them, and Gold includes one more lesson while Platinum includes unlimited lessons. Lifelong support means you can call.
My dog bolts out the front door. Which program?
Gold, if the dog is friendly and the bolting is excitement; the threshold rule is core to the program and proofed with visitors and deliveries. If the dog is bolting to go after other dogs or is guarding the door, that is Platinum, with the behavior work and unlimited lessons.
Can you use Mary Jo Peckham Park?
Not during the stay, which happens in Cypress, but yes afterward. Mary Jo Peckham Park is a Harris County Precinct 3 park close to Cane Island, and a follow-up lesson there proofs the walk where you use it; check the precinct's page for the current rules before you go.
What does the first lesson at home include if we add transport?
On delivery day our trainer walks you through the dog's routine in your own house: the crate, place, the front door, the yard and the first walk on your street. It is the go-home session moved to your address, and for a first-time family it is often worth the $250 on its own.
