How much is board and train for puppies?
Puppy owners are usually quoted a board and train price before anyone asks the puppy's age. Age is the whole answer, so this page starts there and then gives the numbers.

The short version
Under four months the right purchase is four lessons, not a stay.
The Puppy Development Bundle is four private sessions, 45 to 60 minutes each, for puppies under four months. It covers sit, place, stay and recall, crate and potty guidance, a socialization plan, and prevention of nipping and jumping. It is $550 at the training home in Cypress or $750 with our trainer coming to your house, which is the version most families with an eight-week-old puppy choose.
We price it this way because a young puppy's problems live in your kitchen, not in ours. Potty accidents, crate crying, biting hands and jumping on kids are routines the whole household has to run, and a puppy who learns them in a trainer's home would have to learn them again in yours. Four lessons that train the people cost less and work better.
- Four sessions of 45 to 60 minutes for puppies under 4 months
- $550 in Cypress, $750 in your home
- Sit, place, stay, recall, crate, potty, socialization, nipping and jumping
The reasoning
A puppy's first months are about the family, the vaccines and the window.
Three things make a live-in stay a poor fit for a very young puppy. The vaccine series is usually not complete until around sixteen weeks, so the field trips that make our programs valuable are off the table. The socialization window, which closes around twelve to sixteen weeks, is best spent with the people the puppy will live with. And a puppy that age needs naps, short sessions and bite inhibition practice with his own family's hands.
None of that is a reason to wait. The bundle starts the week the puppy comes home, and every skill it builds is one the puppy carries into a board and train later. Families who do the bundle first often need a shorter stay at adolescence, because the crate, the place bed and the name response are already in place.
- Vaccine series usually finishes around 16 weeks; ask your vet what is safe before then
- Socialization window closes around 12 to 16 weeks and belongs with the family
- Short sessions and naps beat a full training day at this age
For your puppy
The price changes at four to five months, when a stay begins to make sense.
From about four to five months a puppy can hold a day of structure, and the board and train prices become the real answer. Silver, $1,500 for one week, is a foundation for a puppy who already had the bundle. Gold, $2,500 for two weeks, is the usual first stay for a five-to-eight-month-old who pulls, jumps and bolts through doors. Platinum, $3,750 for three weeks, is for the adolescent who has started barking at dogs or people.
The puppy's breed shapes the recommendation. A doodle or Lab puppy from Bridgeland usually does well with Gold at six months. A shepherd, Malinois or corso puppy showing early suspicion of strangers is better in Platinum, because the behavior modification and field trips matter more than the manners list. Our team makes that call on the phone, not from a price sheet.
| Age | What we recommend | Price |
|---|---|---|
| 8 to 16 weeks | Puppy Development Bundle, four private sessions | $550 in Cypress, $750 in-home |
| 4 to 6 months | Silver (1 week) or Gold (2 weeks) | $1,500 or $2,500 |
| 6 to 18 months | Gold (2 weeks) or Platinum (3 weeks) | $2,500 or $3,750 |
Houston reality
A Houston puppy's calendar is set by heat, mosquitoes and fireworks.
A puppy that arrives in spring hits the socialization weeks in full summer. From May to September the outdoor sessions in the bundle happen before eight in the morning or after seven at night, with a hand-on-the-pavement test first, and the exposure work moves into carts and carried laps in the pet stores along 290. Mosquitoes carry heartworm here in every month, so prevention begins at the first vet visit rather than in spring.
July 4 and New Year's Eve are loud in every Cypress and Katy neighborhood, and a puppy inside the window should meet fireworks as a planned indoor event with food, not a surprise. The bundle's in-home version at $750 lets our trainer set up the crate, the potty routine and the fireworks plan in the rooms where they will be used.
Book the bundle the week the puppy comes home, ideally at 8 to 10 weeks.
Session one: crate, potty schedule, name response and gentle handling.
Session two: sit, place on a bed, recall in the house, first leash pressure.
Session three: duration on place, socialization outings by cart or carry.
Session four: nipping and jumping plan, plus the plan for the months ahead.
At four to five months, call about Silver or Gold if a stay makes sense.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Will you take a 10-week-old puppy for board and train if I pay full price?
No, and not because of the price. A ten-week-old puppy needs naps, short sessions, his own family's hands for bite inhibition and a socialization plan run by the people he will live with. The bundle at $550 or $750 covers all of that and sets up a much cheaper stay later if one is ever needed.
Is the $750 in-home bundle worth more than the $550 version?
For most young puppies, yes. Crate placement, the potty door, the kids' bedrooms and the front entry are where the routines will be run, and a trainer who sees them sets them up better. Families near Cypress, in Towne Lake or Fairfield, sometimes prefer the $550 option because the drive is short.
What is the cheapest board and train for a puppy?
Silver, one week for $1,500, once the puppy is about four to five months old. It builds loose leash walking, door boundaries and basic structure with a go-home session, and it suits a puppy who had the bundle and just needs the next layer. It is not a fix for a puppy already barking at strangers.
Do puppies get field trips during a stay?
Yes, once the vaccine series your vet requires is complete, which is another reason stays begin at four to five months rather than eight weeks. Puppies in Gold get store and sidewalk exposure; Platinum adds a full week of public proofing. During the bundle, exposure happens by cart or carry so no ground contact is needed.
