Board and train, Waller
Board and train in Waller: fifteen minutes from the training home
Waller means barns, livestock, long driveways and a dog that has never met a fence. The manners that matter here are a recall that beats a running calf, a boundary at the road and calm in the feed store, and that is what a Waller stay is built around.

The stay, from Waller
East on 290 to drop off, a long line in open ground by the end of the week.
Waller families drive east on 290 for drop-off, a trip short enough to fit before morning chores. Bring the food your dog eats now, any medications and its records, and give our trainer the honest version of what the dog does: bolts down the driveway when a truck turns in, chases the cattle, will not come back from the neighbor's place. Day one is crate, house rules and a quiet walk; the long line comes out on day two.
The middle of the stay is daily work in the training home and on the routes around it, with Monday, Wednesday and Friday updates so you can watch the recall improving on video rather than taking our word for it. The go-home session closes the stay. Drop-off families take it at the training home, twenty minutes from Waller; transport families and VIP graduates take it at home, where the driveway and the barn are the real exam.

What a Waller dog practices
A recall that beats the cattle, a stop at the road and a settle in the feed store.
The farm dog's habits are honest ones: it works, it patrols, it chases what runs, and nobody ever taught it that a call from the porch matters more than a rabbit. Training starts with a reward the dog wants more than the chase, delivered on a long line at short range and stretched out day by day. Then a stop, a down at distance, and a boundary at the driveway's end that holds when a truck turns in. Those three cover most of what Waller families ask for.
Field trips are chosen for Waller life. Zube Park in Hockley, a Harris County Precinct 3 park, sits on the way in and gives open ground with other dogs at a distance; the feed and farm stores in Waller give tight aisles, forklifts and strangers who want to say hello; the main street gives trucks and a sidewalk. Check the precinct's site for the park's current rules before you go yourself. A working breed also needs a real off switch, so place inside the training home is practiced as hard as the recall.
- Long-line recall stretched out over the stay
- A stop and a down at distance
- A boundary at the end of the driveway
- Calm in the feed store aisles and on main street
Which program Waller families choose
Platinum for the chaser and the guarder, VIP when the whole property should be off leash.
Gold at $2,500 suits the young farm dog that is friendly with everyone and simply has no manners yet: two weeks for the structured walk, place, door and gate boundaries, jumping and impulse control, with a go-home session, an extra lesson and lifelong support. Platinum at $3,750 is the program for the dog that chases livestock, guards the porch from visitors or cannot be trusted around the neighbor's animals. Three weeks buys behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterwards, and it is our most booked stay.
VIP at $10,000 is the six-week answer to a property with no fences and a family that wants the dog reliable off leash across all of it, with the Mini-Educator included and introduced properly, duration stays, transport home and the handover done on your own land. For a working breed that will spend its life outside with animals, VIP is often the right money.
- Gold for the friendly young farm dog
- Platinum for chasing, guarding and unlimited lessons
- VIP for off-leash reliability across the property
Prices and the deposit
What a Waller stay costs, and when the $250 transport earns its keep.
Gold is $2,500, Platinum $3,750, VIP $10,000, published and the same for everyone. Your $250 reservation deposit secures the dates and comes off the program price. Transport is $250 door to door with the first lesson at your place; VIP includes it. From Waller the drive is short, so drop-off is the norm, but a family with a long driveway, gates and livestock often wants the go-home session to happen right there, because the recall that matters is the one across your own pasture.
Follow-up lessons are $160 at the training home or $220 at your property, and Platinum and VIP include them without limit. Boarding with training refreshers is available for graduates when you travel. Hours are 6am to 9pm daily for calls and drop-offs, and the pricing page has the full list.

Waller specifics
Coyotes at dusk, heat by nine, and a storm plan for the barn and the dog.
Open country west of Cypress has coyotes at dusk, fire ants in every pasture and heat that closes the outdoor training window by mid-morning from May through September, so summer sessions run at dawn and after dinner with store aisles in between. Hurricane season, June 1 through November 30, is discussed at booking: where the dog goes if the family evacuates, and what to bring. Year-round mosquito pressure means heartworm prevention is not seasonal here.
- Dawn and evening sessions in summer
- Recall proofed against wildlife scent
- Storm-season plan agreed before drop-off
- Heartworm prevention all year

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
How long is the drive from Waller to the training home?
About 15 to 20 minutes outside rush hour, east on 290 to Cypress near Fry Road. That makes drop-off, the go-home session and follow-up lessons easy, and it is why most Waller families do not pay for transport unless they want the handover on their own property.
Can a farm dog learn to come back from livestock?
Yes, with a long line, a reward it wants more than the chase and enough repetitions at increasing distance. Platinum gives our trainers three weeks to build it and the field trips to proof it; VIP takes it to full off-leash reliability across an unfenced property with the e-collar introduced properly.
My dog has never lived inside a house. Is that a problem?
No. Plenty of Waller dogs arrive as outside dogs. The crate, the place bed and the house rules are taught from day one, the same way as everything else, and the calm indoors is part of the point: a working dog that can switch off in the house is easier to live with everywhere.
Where is the go-home session for a Waller family?
At the training home in Cypress if you dropped off, or at your property if you added the $250 transport or booked VIP. For acreage the at-home version has a real advantage: the driveway, the barn and the animals are right there, and the handover is done in the exact places the dog will live.
Do you take working breeds like heelers and shepherds?
Yes. Herding and working breeds do well with balanced training because the boundaries are clear and the job is real. Tell our team the breed and the daily routine on the consultation call and we will suggest the program that fits.
