Board and train, Hockley
Board and train in Hockley: acreage recall and the shortest drive we have
Hockley dogs have room, livestock, chickens and no fence line to stop them, which means recall over distance is the skill that matters most here. Our trainers build it on a long line first, then prove it around the training home and on open ground before your dog comes back to your land.

The stay, from Hockley
A short drive down 290, then two to six weeks of structure.
Drop-off morning is simple from Hockley. You drive 290 or FM 2920 into Cypress, hand over your dog with the food, medications and vaccination records we asked for, and spend a few minutes with our trainer going over what happens on your land: which animals your dog ignores, which it chases, and where it disappears to. Then the dog comes inside. The first day is decompression and the crate, and the program starts properly on day two, in the house and on the routes around the training home.
You will see the work in photo and video updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The go-home session is the final piece. Drop-off families take it at the training home, ten to twenty minutes from Hockley, and we walk you through the leash and the recall before you leave. Families who add the $250 transport, and every VIP graduate, get the handover at home, which for an acreage dog means the driveway, the barn and the tree line.

What a Hockley dog practices
Recall past chickens, a stop at the tree line and manners at the feed store.
A Hockley dog's problems are about distance. It ignores your call at fifty yards, runs the fence line that is not there, chases the chickens and greets the horses with too much enthusiasm. So the work starts on a long line in open ground near the training home: come when called, with a reward that beats whatever it left, then a stop at a distance, then a recall away from moving animals.
Field trips fill in the rest. Zube Park in Hockley, run by Harris County Precinct 3, gives us open space and other dogs at a distance; Kleb Woods Nature Preserve gives us wooded trails and wildlife scent; the feed and farm stores give us narrow aisles, pallets and strangers. Platinum dogs also work the sidewalks and pet stores near the training home so the neutrality holds in town as well as on the land. Check the precinct's site for current park rules before you visit with your own dog.
- Recall over distance on a long line, then without it
- A stop and a down at the tree line
- Calm around chickens, horses and livestock
- Loose-leash manners in the feed store aisles
Which program Hockley families choose
Platinum for the runner, VIP for the dog you want off leash on the land.
Gold at $2,500 fits a friendly Hockley dog that pulls, jumps and ignores the door but comes back when called: two weeks builds place, the structured walk, door boundaries and impulse control, and you get a go-home session, one more lesson and lifelong support. Platinum at $3,750 is the honest fit for the dog that bolts after wildlife, guards the porch or cannot settle when guests come up the driveway. Three weeks adds behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterwards, and it is our most booked program.
VIP at $10,000 is for the family that wants complete off-leash reliability across acreage: six weeks, the Mini-Educator e-collar included and introduced properly, front and center positioning, duration stays and transport home with an in-home handover. It is service-dog-level obedience, not service dog certification. If you are unsure, tell our team what your dog does when it sees a deer; the answer usually points to the right program.
- Gold: manners and recall for the friendly dog
- Platinum: behavior modification and unlimited lessons
- VIP: off-leash reliability on unfenced land
Prices and the deposit
Published prices, a $250 deposit, and transport most Hockley families skip.
Every price is published: Gold $2,500, Platinum $3,750, VIP $10,000. The $250 reservation deposit holds your dates and counts toward the program. Transport is $250 for door-to-door pickup and return, and it includes the first lesson at your home; it is included in VIP. From Hockley the drive is short enough that most families skip it, but the acreage family that wants the go-home session on its own land, with the barn and the animals right there, sometimes adds it anyway.
Boarding with training refreshers is available for graduates, which matters when you travel and want the recall kept sharp rather than left to fade. We take calls and drop-offs from 6am to 9pm daily, and the pricing page carries every program number in one place, so there is nothing to negotiate on the phone and nothing to be surprised by at the door.

Hockley specifics
Coyotes, summer heat and a September that still needs early mornings.
Hockley's open ground comes with coyotes, snakes in the tall grass and fire ant mounds along the fence posts, so the recall is built to beat those distractions and the go-home session covers where to practice safely. Summer runs the schedule: from May to September outdoor sessions move to early morning and evening, and the midday work happens in store aisles and inside the training home. Storm season, June 1 to November 30, is planned around too; if a storm is forecast we talk before drop-off, not after.
- Recall proofed against wildlife scent
- Fire ant and snake awareness on the go-home walk
- Early morning and evening sessions May to September
- Storm-season dates discussed at booking

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
How far is Hockley from the training home?
About 10 to 20 minutes outside rush hour, down 290 or across on FM 2920 into Cypress. That makes drop-off, the go-home session and any follow-up lessons easy, and most Hockley families skip the transport.
Can you really fix recall on unfenced acreage?
Recall over distance is the most common goal we hear from Hockley, and it is built in stages: long line, then distance, then distractions like other dogs and livestock scent. Platinum gets a reliable recall for most dogs; VIP is the program for full off-leash reliability across acres.
Will my dog be around livestock during the stay?
The training home is a house in Cypress, not a farm, so livestock exposure comes from field trips to the feed stores and the open ground around Hockley, plus the wildlife scent on the Kleb Woods trails. The go-home session on your property is where we finish the work around your own animals.
Where does the go-home session happen for Hockley families?
At the training home in Cypress if you dropped off, and at your home if you added the $250 transport or booked VIP. For acreage the at-home version is worth considering, because the driveway, the barn and the tree line are the real test.
What should I bring on drop-off morning?
Your dog's usual food for the whole stay, any medications with instructions, vaccination records and the collar or harness it wears now. Leave the toys and beds at home; we provide the crate and the place bed, and our team confirms the full list on the consultation call.
