Waller, TX
Dog training in Waller: acreage dogs, feed-store manners and recall that holds
Waller dogs live differently from city dogs. They have acreage instead of a fence, a barn instead of a hallway, and a feed store instead of a pet store. The training they need is a recall that beats a deer, manners around livestock, and a quiet settle on a porch that faces a long driveway.

Waller dogs
A recall that holds past the fence line is the Waller request.
The call from Waller is rarely about jumping on guests. It is about a heeler that leaves the porch the moment a deer crosses the back pasture, a Lab that will not come back from the pond, or a young shepherd that has started chasing the neighbor's goats through a gap in the wire. On acreage without a fence, the recall is not a trick. It is the thing that keeps the dog alive on a county road.
We build it in layers. First the dog learns that the word means good things every single time, indoors and in our yard. Then it learns the word on a long line in open fields, with distractions we control. Then, in the Platinum and VIP programs, it learns the word off the line in real public places, so that by the time the dog comes home to Waller the recall has already beaten squirrels, other dogs and a moving cart.
- A recall that beats a deer at the tree line
- Calm around chickens, goats and horses, on a leash first
- A settle on the porch while trucks come up the drive
- No fence-line running when the neighbor's dog passes
How it works from Waller
Fifteen minutes down 290: drop off, or let us do the driving.
Waller is one of the closest towns to the training home. The drive is about 15 to 20 minutes east on 290 outside rush hour, which makes drop-off the natural choice for most families. Your dog lives in our trainer's house, not a kennel, with a small group of dogs, and you get photo and video updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday so you can watch the work as it happens.
If the drive does not suit your schedule, the $250 transportation service picks your dog up at your gate and brings it home at the end, and it includes the first lesson at your property. That in-home lesson matters more on acreage than anywhere else, because we can work the recall on your own pasture and the settle on your own porch. Transport comes standard with the six-week VIP program.

Where we train near you
Zube Park, the feed stores and main street.
Field trips during the stay use the public places closest to the training home, and Zube Park in Hockley is one of them. It is a Harris County Precinct 3 park with open fields and long sightlines, which is exactly what a long-line recall needs. The precinct's site carries the current hours and leash rules, so check it before you go on your own.
Waller's feed and farm stores are the local version of the pet-store field trip: carts, pallets, strangers in boots and the smell of livestock feed. A dog that can hold a sit in that aisle can hold one anywhere. The small-town main street gives us slow sidewalks, parked trucks and a handful of people who want to say hello, and the go-home session for transport families continues that work at your own gate.
- Long-line recall in the open fields at Zube Park
- A sit and a down in the feed-store aisle
- Loose leash on main street past parked trucks
- Neutral to livestock, on leash, before any off-leash work
Lessons on your acreage
In-home lessons in Waller cost $220 and happen on your own land.
Not every Waller dog needs a stay. A private lesson at your property is $220 a session and suits a dog with one specific problem, a family that wants to learn handling first, or the follow-up after a board and train. The same session at the training home in Cypress is $160. On acreage we work the recall across your own fields and the door manners at your own back door, because a skill learned at home holds at home.
Puppies under four months get the Puppy Development Bundle: four private sessions of 45 to 60 minutes for $750 in your home or $550 in Cypress. For a farm puppy the priorities are recall, a crate it likes, potty habits that survive a big yard, and calm around the animals it will grow up beside. Livestock introductions happen on leash and at a distance first, never loose in the pen.
Programs and prices
Published prices, and Platinum is the acreage program.
The one-week Silver ($1,500) is a foundation or a refresher: loose leash, door boundaries and basic structure. Gold is two weeks for $2,500 and adds sit and place with duration, impulse control and one extra lesson after the stay. Platinum is three weeks for $3,750 and is the one we recommend for a Waller dog, because it includes the field trips, the behavior work and unlimited private lessons afterward. VIP is six weeks for $10,000: full off-leash reliability, a Mini-Educator e-collar, transport and the in-home handover.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Do you pick up in Waller?
Yes. The $250 transportation service collects your dog at your gate in Waller, returns it at the end of the program and includes the first lesson at your property. Most Waller families drop off because the drive is short, but the pickup is there for anyone who would rather not make it twice, and it is included in VIP.
Can you train a dog to stay off the road without a fence?
We can build a strong recall and a boundary at the driveway, and the VIP program adds e-collar reliability at distance. What we will not do is call any dog safe to leave unsupervised beside a county road. The honest answer is a reliable recall plus your attention, and we will tell you on the call what your dog can realistically reach.
Will my dog be around livestock during training?
Not at the training home; we do not keep livestock. What we do is build neutrality around distractions in general and then, during the in-home lesson or follow-ups on your property, introduce your own animals on leash and at a distance. The goal is a dog that watches you instead of the goats.
How far is Waller from the training home?
About 15 to 20 minutes east on 290 outside rush hour. The training home is in Cypress off 290 near Fry Road, so a Waller family can drop off on a Saturday morning and be back home in under an hour round trip, with the go-home session at the same address on the last day.
Which program is right for a working breed?
For a heeler, a shepherd or a Malinois that needs a job and a recall, Platinum is the usual answer: three weeks, field trips, behavior work and the unlimited lessons afterward that a driven dog needs. Working breeds learn fast and test often, so the follow-up matters as much as the stay itself.
