Puppy training in Tomball: farm-country puppies, recall from day one
Tomball puppies grow up with more room than most Houston dogs: a long driveway, a fence line that ends at a tree line, chickens or a horse next door. That freedom is wonderful for a dog that comes when called and dangerous for one that does not, which is why the bundle for Tomball leads with the recall.

The four sessions
Four visits to your Tomball property, and the recall starts on the first one.
Session one happens the week the puppy comes home. Our trainer walks the property with you first, because the plan for a puppy on two acres is different from the plan for a puppy in a Village Creek cul-de-sac: where the crate goes, which door is the potty door, what the puppy can reach in the barn and where the drive ends. Then the marker word, the food rule and the first game of name recognition, which is the seed of every recall that follows.
Sessions two through four run a week to ten days apart so the puppy has time to practice each piece. Every visit is 45 to 60 minutes with rest breaks; our trainer works the puppy first and then hands the leash to you and to any child old enough to hold it. By session three the recall has moved from the kitchen to a long line in the pasture.
Session one, the first week: the property walk, crate placement, the potty door, the marker word and name recognition.
Session two: sit, a place bed near the back door, the nipping plan and the first recall from room to room.
Session three: recall on a long line in the open, stay with a few seconds of duration, and the leash on your street.
Session four: everything repeated somewhere new, the rules for livestock and wildlife, and the plan for months four to twelve.

Raising a Tomball puppy
Heat, vaccines and open land shape a Tomball puppy's first four months.
From May through September a puppy's day in Tomball runs on the heat calendar: potty trips and short play before nine in the morning and after seven in the evening, naps through the middle of the day, and a pavement test at the door before any walk. Press the back of your hand to the driveway; if it is uncomfortable for you, it will burn a puppy's pads. Fire ants build mounds in pasture and lawn after every rain, and a puppy stung on its potty spot will refuse the spot, so walk the yard weekly and treat what you find.
Until your veterinarian confirms the vaccine series is complete, usually around sixteen weeks, the puppy's feet stay off ground that unknown dogs use, because parvovirus survives in warm Texas soil. A Tomball puppy can ride in a cart through the feed store, sit in your lap on a bench on Main Street while trucks and strollers go past, and watch Burroughs Park from a blanket in the back of the truck. Kleb Woods and the park trails wait until the vet clears the ground.
The housing is the other half. Acreage means no fence, or a fence built for horses that a ten-week-old walks straight through, so the puppy lives on a long line outside until the recall is real. The farm dog next door, the barn cat and the chickens are met on a leash and at a distance from the first week.
- Outdoor time before nine and after seven from May through September, with a pavement test at the door
- The feed store from a cart, Main Street from a lap, Burroughs Park from a blanket in the truck bed
- Kleb Woods and the park trails after the vet clears the vaccine series
- A long line outside from the first week, because a horse fence is not a puppy fence
Bundle or a stay
Under four months the bundle; from four to five months a stay becomes an option.
A puppy under four months does not belong in a board and train, and we will say so on the phone. At about four to five months a puppy can hold structure for a full day, and that is when a stay at our Cypress home starts to make sense: Gold for two weeks at $2,500 builds sit and stay, place, the loose leash, door boundaries and impulse control before adolescence sets the habits.
For a Tomball working breed, a shepherd, a heeler or a Pyrenees, the usual path is the bundle now and Platinum at $3,750 later, because Platinum adds the structured heel, field trips and behavior modification, and a farm dog with drive needs all three. The bundle's recall makes that stay a polish rather than a rebuild. Tomball is close enough that most families drop off and take the go-home session in Cypress.

Prices
What the Tomball puppy bundle costs, and what comes after it.
The bundle is $750 with our trainer at your Tomball home, which for most families here is the right version because the trainer needs to see the property, the barn and the fence to write a recall plan that fits it. If you would rather drive, the same four sessions at our Cypress training home are $550, about 20 to 30 minutes away outside rush hour.
After four months the same work continues as private lessons: $160 per session in Cypress or $220 at your home. A stay is reserved with a $250 deposit, and the $250 door-to-door transport with the first lesson at your house is available for a later stay, though Tomball families rarely need it. There is nothing to buy beyond a crate, a long line and a flat collar.
- $750 for four sessions at your Tomball home, $550 for four sessions in Cypress
- Private lessons after four months: $160 in Cypress, $220 at your house
- A later stay held with a $250 deposit; transport $250 if the drive is a problem
The programs
For a Tomball puppy, and for the farm dog it grows into.
The bundle for the first four months at $750 on your property or $550 in Cypress; private lessons once the puppy is older; a Platinum stay when the working breed needs the heel and the off switch.
Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Can a Tomball puppy be off leash on our land during the bundle?
Not yet. Under four months a puppy follows you because it is small and unsure, not because it has a recall, and the day it discovers the tree line that changes. Keep it on a long line outside through the bundle and let the recall drills earn the freedom. Most puppies that finish the four sessions are dragging a line by adolescence and off it by the end of a later stay.
Our puppy will live with horses and chickens. Does the bundle cover that?
It covers the introductions. The puppy meets the livestock on a leash, at a distance where it can stay calm, and learns that the barn is a place where it settles on a place bed rather than a place where it chases. Chasing is a drive problem that a later Platinum stay addresses with behavior modification; the bundle's job is to keep it from starting.
Where can we socialize a puppy in Tomball before its shots are done?
Anywhere its paws stay off shared ground. The feed and hardware stores from a cart, a bench on Main Street at a busy hour, the truck bed parked at the edge of Burroughs Park, a friend's yard where only vaccinated dogs go. Kleb Woods and the park grass wait for your vet's all clear, usually around sixteen weeks.
Is it worth the drive to Cypress to pay $550?
For a puppy in a Woodtrace or Village Creek subdivision with a normal fence, yes: the drive is short and the trainer can teach everything in the bundle at our home. For a puppy on acreage, the $750 in-home version pays for itself, because the recall plan depends on the actual land, the actual fence and the actual barn.
