Board and train, Sienna

Board and train in Sienna: for Sienna and the Fort Bend south side

Sienna is a big-dog community: shepherds, cane corsos, Rottweilers and doodles the size of a couch, living in big yards on the Brazos side of Missouri City where coyotes work the river bend at night. A big dog with no training is a liability on a trail; the stay makes it an asset.

The stay, from Sienna

Pickup on Sienna Parkway, then a house in Cypress with room for a big dog.

At 50 minutes each way, the $250 transport is what most Sienna families choose. Our trainer comes to the house, meets the dog where it guards, sees the yard and the gate, and drives the dog north up 99 to Cypress; that ride is the first calm-in-the-car lesson for a dog that usually rides like a hurricane. Families who would rather see the training home drive it, drop off in the morning with food, records and medication, and return for the go-home session there.

The house is a house, not a run, and a 100-pound dog gets its own crate, its own place and a daily routine of training in the home, on the sidewalks, in the stores on 290 and at the lake. Monday, Wednesday and Friday you get photos and short videos. At the end the dog rides home and the go-home session happens in your yard, at your front door and on the first stretch of trail, with the whole household learning the leash.

What a Sienna dog practices

Neutrality on the trail, a recall that ignores coyotes, and a big dog that waits at the door.

A big dog in Sienna has to be neutral, because a lunge from a shepherd is a different event than a lunge from a terrier. The structured walk and neutrality to other dogs, bikes and kids are built on quiet streets near the training home and then proofed in public places during a Platinum stay's field trips. Back home, Sienna's trails toward the Brazos bend and the sidewalks along Sienna Parkway are where the handover puts it to the test.

The river and the coyotes set the recall standard. Coyotes use the greenbelts and the river bottom, and a big dog that goes after one at dusk is at risk, so the recall is built on a long line at the lake near the training home and proofed with distance and distraction before anyone trusts it. Texas Parks and Wildlife's coyote page covers their habits. Missouri City and Fort Bend County publish the park and leash rules; check them before assuming a trail is off leash.

  • A structured walk that holds at 100 pounds
  • Neutral to dogs, bikes and kids on the trail
  • A recall that beats a coyote at dusk
  • A wait at the door that survives visitors

Which program

Platinum for the guardian breed, Gold for the friendly giant, VIP for off leash in the yard.

A Sienna dog that is friendly and simply too strong, pulling and jumping and body-slamming the kids, fits Gold: two weeks at $2,500 for sit, place, the structured walk, door boundaries and impulse control, with a go-home session and one more lesson. A guardian breed that has started barking at the window, guarding the door from visitors or lunging on the trail fits Platinum: three weeks at $3,750 with behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons, and for big dogs it is the stay we recommend most.

VIP at $10,000 is six weeks for the family that wants the dog reliable off leash in a big yard and on the greenbelt where allowed, with the Mini-Educator included and introduced correctly, transport included and the handover plus unlimited lessons at home. It is service-dog-level obedience, not a certification. Our team tells you on the consultation call which stay the dog actually needs.

  • Gold: the strong, friendly puller
  • Platinum: guarding, window barking, trail reactivity
  • VIP: off leash in the yard and on the greenbelt

Prices and the deposit

What Sienna pays: the published prices plus the ride.

Gold is $2,500, Platinum $3,750, VIP $10,000, published and unchanged by the size of the dog or the distance. A $250 reservation deposit secures the dates and is deducted from the total. Transport is $250 for pickup and return with the first lesson at your home, the sensible choice at 50 minutes, and VIP includes it. Big dogs feel the summer more, so from May through September the outdoor sessions run early and late and the aisles carry the afternoon; the mosquito pressure that drives heartworm risk here is year-round, so keep prevention current.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Do you handle large guardian breeds?

Yes. Anxiety, reactivity and aggression are the specialties, and big guardian breeds are a regular part of the training home. Each dog has its own crate and place, dogs are introduced carefully, and the balanced method gives a strong dog clear rules and fair boundaries rather than a fight.

How far is Sienna from the training home?

About 50 minutes outside rush hour: Highway 6 to 99, north to 290, then a few minutes to Cypress. Most Sienna families take the $250 pickup and return instead of making the trip twice, which also moves the first lesson and the go-home session into their own yard.

Will the go-home session cover my yard and gate?

Yes, with transport or VIP. Our trainer walks the yard, the gate, the front door and the first stretch of trail with you, because a big dog's rules have to be handled by everyone who opens that door. Drop-off families do the session at the training home in Cypress.

What about the coyotes near the river?

The recall and the leave-it are the answer, built on a long line and proofed around distraction, and a Platinum stay is where that work happens. VIP carries the same recall to off leash, e-collar included. Even then, a big dog near the Brazos at dusk belongs on a leash or under a recall you have tested.

Is a summer stay harder on a big dog?

It is managed. From May to September outdoor work runs at dawn and after dark, the pavement is tested before every walk, and the store aisles and the house carry the heat of the day. A heavy-coated dog trains the same number of hours; it just does more of them indoors.
