Board and train, Pearland

Board and train in Pearland: Shadow Creek Ranch to Old Town, pickup available

Pearland is young families, first dogs and big yards, and the calls from Shadow Creek Ranch and Silverlake are about a dog that jumps on the toddler, drags the teenager and goes wild at the doorbell. All of it is structure, and the transport means the structure gets handed over in your own hallway.

The stay, from Pearland

An hour away, so the transport does both trips and the handover comes home.

Pearland is the far side of the metro from Cypress, and we say so. Nearly every Pearland family takes the $250 transport: we collect the dog at your door, the drive is its first field trip, and at the end of the program we bring it back and run the go-home session in your living room, at your door and on your street. Drop-off is welcome for families who prefer the drive. The dog lives in the house with our trainers, sleeps in a crate in the home and trains daily; the updates arrive Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

The handover in a Pearland home is where the children learn the rules with the dog, because the toddler at the door is the daily exam.

What a Pearland dog learns

Calm around children, a loose leash for every family member, the door and the pool.

The Pearland dog is often the family's first, bought for the kids, and by a year it knocks the toddler over, drags the teenager down the sidewalk, barks at every truck on a street full of construction and treats the pool as a right. Gold installs place, a calm greeting with four paws on the floor, a structured walk every family member can hold, door manners and impulse control. Platinum adds the behavior work for the dog that has started lunging on the trails or guarding the door, with field trips and unlimited lessons afterwards. The pool rule, a wait at the gate, is built at the lake near the training home and transferred at your pool.

  • Four paws on the floor for every child, every time
  • A loose leash the teenager can hold
  • Quiet at the window on a construction street
  • A wait at the pool gate and a recall out of the water

Pearland specifics

Storm season, big yards and the Beltway.

Pearland takes storm season seriously, and every stay builds crate calm so a flood watch or an evacuation drive is a manageable event for the dog; the hurricane guide on this site is written with the south side in mind. Big yards tempt families to skip the walk, and the structured walk we teach replaces the yard as exercise. The Beltway at five o'clock is the reason the transport exists, and the drive home with a calm handler in a crated car is often the first good drive a Pearland dog has had. Summer on the flat south side is the standard Houston summer, and the stay runs on the dawn-and-dusk schedule.

  • Crate calm for storm season
  • A structured walk to replace the yard
  • The transport instead of the Beltway at five
  • Dawn and dusk outdoors in summer

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Is Pearland too far for board and train in Cypress?

No, but it is an hour, so the $250 transport is the standard choice. We pick up and return, the drive is part of the training, and the go-home session happens in your Pearland home. Drop-off is welcome if you prefer to drive.

Will the go-home session include my kids?

Yes, and it should. The children learn the greeting rule and the place command with the dog in your own hallway, because the toddler at the door is the daily test of everything the dog learned.

What happens if a hurricane is forecast during the stay?

The training home has a storm plan; the dogs are crated and cared for through it with updates to every family, and the return would be coordinated with you if an evacuation affected the route. Crate calm is built into every stay for exactly this.

Which program for a Lab that knocks the toddler over?

Gold, unless the dog is also lunging at other dogs or guarding, in which case Platinum. Both install a calm greeting and place, and both end with a handover where every family member, children included, learns the rules.
