Four sessions
Four visits to your Pearland house, built around a first dog, a big yard and a toddler.
The first session is booked for the puppy's first week home, because a Pearland puppy usually arrives into a house with small children and a big yard, and that week's habits stick. Our trainer places the crate in the family room, chooses a potty spot close to the back door rather than out by the fence, teaches the marker word with breakfast, and gives the children a rule for picking the puppy up and a rule for when it nips.
Sessions two through four follow a week to ten days apart, each 45 to 60 minutes with breaks. Our trainer works the puppy first, then hands it to you, then to the older children if they want a turn, and the homework is two-minute drills several times a day.
Session one, the first week home: crate in the family room, a potty spot near the door, the marker word, and the rules for the kids.
Session two: sit, place on a bed, name recognition, and the nipping plan for a puppy in a house with a toddler.
Session three: recall on a long line across the big yard, stay with short duration, and a first leash walk on the sidewalk.
Session four: the skills in a new place, the socialization list reviewed, and the plan for the months up to a year, including whether a stay makes sense.
Socialization
Pearland socialization is Centennial Park from a bench, Town Center from a mat and Broadway from a cart.
Until your veterinarian confirms the vaccine series is done, the usual guidance is to keep the puppy's paws off ground that unknown dogs use, so the first outings are from your arms, a cart or a mat. Centennial Park from a bench is kids, ball games and joggers. The Pearland Town Center patios put a puppy on a mat under a table with food and strollers going past. The stores on Broadway give a cart ride past automatic doors, carts and strangers.
Once the ground is cleared, the Shadow Creek Ranch trails at a quiet hour are the first long-line walks, with bikes passing at a distance you set. The school pickup crowd on your own street is a session on its own: scooters, strollers and noise, watched from the driveway with the puppy on a leash and a handful of food. Save the dog park for a dog with a recall and its adult confidence.
- Centennial Park from a bench: kids, ball games, joggers
- A Pearland Town Center patio on a mat under the table
- The stores on Broadway from a cart
- The Shadow Creek Ranch trails on a long line once the vet clears the ground
- Your own street at school pickup, from the driveway with food in hand
Before eight weeks
Before the puppy arrives: the fence, the fire ants, the pool and a storm plan.
A Pearland yard is big, and big yards hide gaps. Walk the fence low, especially on an Old Town lot with an older fence, and fix the gap under the gate a ten-week-old will find. Treat the fire ant mounds, choose a potty spot near the back door on shaded grass, and if there is a pool, put a barrier between the house and the water before the puppy comes home.
Pearland families know storm season, June 1 to November 30, so add the puppy to the plan now: a crate the puppy already likes, a carrier that fits in the car, food, water, medication and the vaccine record in one bag. A puppy that learned the crate in session one rides out a flood watch or an evacuation drive far better. The first vet visit belongs in week one, and heartworm prevention in Houston is a year-round habit that starts there.
- The fence walked low and the gap under the gate fixed
- Fire ant mounds treated; the potty spot near the back door on shaded grass
- A barrier between the house and the pool, if there is one
- A storm bag with the crate, the carrier, food, water and the vaccine record
- The first vet visit booked and heartworm prevention discussed
Bundle or a stay
The bundle now; a Gold stay with transport later if the big yard grows a bigger dog.
The bundle is for a puppy under four months and a family learning how to raise it. A board and train stay is for a dog with the stamina for two or three weeks of daily structure, and in Pearland it usually comes up at adolescence, when a Lab or a shepherd has grown into a seventy-pound dog that jumps on the toddler and drags the teenager down the sidewalk. Gold is two weeks in our Cypress home for $2,500 and installs place, the walk, doors and impulse control.
The drive from Pearland to Cypress is about 55 to 70 minutes each way, which is why almost every Pearland family who takes a stay adds the $250 transport: we collect the dog at your door, return it when the program ends, and the first lesson happens in your living room.
| Puppy Development Bundle | Gold stay with transport, later | |

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Is the $550 Cypress option realistic from Pearland?
Rarely. Four round trips of 55 to 70 minutes each way, with a puppy that has not yet learned to ride in a car, add up to a long month, and the in-home bundle at $750 puts our trainer in your actual yard and kitchen. Most Pearland families book the visits at home.
What happens if a storm interrupts the bundle?
The sessions move. If a flood watch or a hurricane closes the roads between Cypress and Pearland, the affected session is rescheduled for the first safe day, and the crate work from session one is what carries the puppy through the storm itself. Our team stays in touch by phone from six in the morning to nine at night, storm or not.
We have a toddler. Can the puppy and the child be trained together?
They can be taught the same rules, which is the goal. Session one gives the child a way to pet the puppy and a place to stand when it gets mouthy, and gives the puppy a place bed the child learns not to invade. The nipping plan in session two gives the adults a script. Neither is left to figure the other one out alone.
Do you cover Friendswood, Manvel and League City for the in-home bundle?
Yes. The in-home bundle at $750 covers Pearland, Shadow Creek Ranch, Silverlake, Old Town, Friendswood, Manvel and League City. Later, if a Gold stay makes sense, the $250 transport collects the dog from any of those addresses and brings it home with the first lesson included.
