Board and train, Hempstead
Board and train in Hempstead: twenty-five minutes down 290
A Hempstead dog answers to the land: coyotes at the tree line, cattle across the fence, a driveway long enough that nobody sees the truck until it is at the house. The stay gives that dog a recall, a place and manners that hold at the feed store and on the courthouse square.

The stay, from Hempstead
Twenty-five minutes down 290 in the morning, and the same road home.
Hempstead is close. You drop the dog at the training home in Cypress on the way to whatever the day holds, with the food, the records and any medication, and you are back on 290 in a few minutes. There is no rush-hour trap coming from the west, which is why almost every Hempstead family drives rather than adding the $250 transport. The first day at the house is deliberately slow: a walk on the leash, the crate, meals on place, nothing that asks the dog to perform.
Then the program runs every day: inside the house, on the sidewalks around it, in the hardware and pet stores on 290, and at the lake for water work and recall on a long line. Monday, Wednesday and Friday bring photos and short videos. The go-home session is at the training home for drop-off families, and because the drive is short, many Hempstead families book a follow-up lesson on their own land afterward.

What a Hempstead dog practices
The recall past a coyote, a down at the feed store, a walk at Zube Park.
Coyotes are part of Waller County life, and a dog that runs one is a dog that gets hurt. The recall is the first thing a Hempstead stay works on: long line at the lake, then distractions, then distance, then the yard at the training home with other dogs moving. Texas Parks and Wildlife's coyote page explains why a dog should never be the one to close the distance. The leave-it for cattle, chickens and horses is built on the same foundation.
Town manners matter too. Zube Park, run by Harris County Precinct 3, is on the way in from Hempstead and makes a good place to test the structured walk past other dogs and picnics; check the precinct's page for the leash rule. The feed and farm stores around town are where the down-stay gets proofed, and the courthouse square is where a dog learns that a sidewalk with people on it is not an event.
- Recall on a long line, then off it
- Leave-it for livestock and poultry
- A down-stay in the feed store
- A calm walk around the courthouse square
Which program
Platinum for the dog that chases, Gold for the one that just pulls.
A Hempstead dog that is friendly and untrained fits Gold: two weeks at $2,500 for loose-leash walking, place, door boundaries, no jumping and impulse control, with a go-home session and one more lesson. A dog that chases, that has gone after the neighbor's goats, that guards the truck or shakes through a thunderstorm needs Platinum: three weeks at $3,750, with behavior modification, field trips and unlimited lessons afterward. Most Hempstead families end up in Platinum because the recall and the leave-it need the third week.
VIP at $10,000 is the six-week program for the family that wants true off-leash reliability across acreage, with the Mini-Educator included and introduced correctly, transport home included and the handover and all follow-up lessons at your property. Silver at $1,500 is one week for a graduate who needs a refresher. The consultation call is where our team tells you honestly which fits.
- Gold: manners, $2,500, two weeks
- Platinum: chasing, guarding, storms, unlimited lessons
- VIP: off leash on acreage, e-collar included
Prices and the deposit
Fixed prices, a $250 deposit, and transport that Hempstead rarely needs.
Gold is $2,500, Platinum $3,750 and VIP $10,000, published and identical for every address. The $250 reservation deposit holds your dates and comes off the price. The $250 transport includes pickup, return and the first lesson at your home; at 25 minutes most Hempstead families skip it, but families who want the go-home session on their own land take it, and VIP includes it. A summer stay works the same as a fall one: outdoor training at dawn and dusk from May through September, aisles and the house in the heat of the day.
| Program | Length | Price | Transport |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gold | 2 weeks | $2,500 | $250, optional |
| Platinum | 3 weeks | $3,750 | $250, optional |
| VIP | 6 weeks | $10,000 | Included |

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Do I need transport from Hempstead?
Almost never. The training home is about 25 minutes down 290 outside rush hour, so drop-off and the go-home session in Cypress are easy. Families who want the handover on their own acreage, with the trainer walking the fence line and the driveway with them, add the $250 transport; VIP includes it.
Can you fix a dog that chases coyotes and deer?
We can build a recall and a leave-it strong enough to interrupt a chase, and Platinum is the program for it because the work needs proofing around real distractions and unlimited lessons afterward. VIP finishes it off leash with the e-collar. No dog should be trusted to sort out a coyote on its own.
My dog has never lived indoors. Will the house be a problem?
Usually the house is where the biggest change happens. Farm dogs that have never held a place or slept in a crate learn both, and Hempstead families often report a dog that is calmer in the kitchen than it has ever been. The outdoor work is layered on top of that.
Is Zube Park a good place to practice after the stay?
Yes. It is on your route into Cypress, it is run by Harris County Precinct 3, and it offers a leash walk past other dogs, picnics and playgrounds that tests the structured walk. Check the precinct's page for the current rules before you go.
What do you need from me at drop-off?
The dog's own food for the length of the stay, vaccination records, any medication with instructions, and a few minutes to tell our trainer what the dog does at home. Our team confirms the list on the consultation call and answers anything else before the day.
