Board and train, Elyson

Board and train in Elyson: fifteen minutes from the training home

Elyson is new construction, young families and a lot of first dogs: the puppy that arrived with the house keys and is now an adolescent that pulls the kids down the sidewalk. Fifteen minutes from the training home, it is the easiest place in the west metro to book a stay.

The stay, from Elyson

Fifteen minutes on 529 and 99, and the go-home session is just as close.

Elyson is a short drive: FM 529 to 99, north to 290, about 15 minutes outside rush hour. You drop the dog off in the morning with its food, vaccination records and any medication, spend a few minutes telling our trainer what it does at home, and you are back before the school run is over. Almost nobody in Elyson books the $250 transport for distance; the few who do want the go-home session at their own front door, and VIP includes it.

Day one in the house is settling in. From day two the dog trains every day: place and the crate inside, the structured walk on the streets around the training home, the store aisles on 290, and the lake for water work and the recall. Photos and video come on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The go-home session is at the training home, and because Elyson is so close, the follow-up lessons often happen on your own trail.

What an Elyson dog practices

The new trail, the small yard, the construction trucks and the first-dog basics.

An Elyson dog lives in a small fenced yard and gets its exercise on the community's trails and around its lakes, which means the walk is everything. A loose leash past other first dogs, strollers and the kids on scooters is built on quiet streets near the training home and proofed in the new stores along 99 and 529. The front door, a few steps from the sidewalk, gets a threshold rule, and the fence gets a quiet cue for the dog that barks at every truck on a street still under construction.

Bear Creek Pioneers Park, a Harris County Precinct 3 park to the east, is a good follow-up venue for trail neutrality once the dog is home; the precinct's page has the rules. First-time owners get more time at the handover, because the point of the go-home session is that you leave able to handle the dog. Summer training runs early and late from May through September, with the aisles and the house in between, and the AVMA's heat page explains the pavement rule.

  • A threshold rule at a door near the sidewalk
  • Quiet at the fence when trucks pass
  • A wait at the lake and a recall out

Which program

Gold for the first dog, Platinum if the puppy grew into a barker, VIP rarely.

Gold, two weeks at $2,500, is the Elyson program: sit, place, loose-leash walking, door boundaries, no jumping and impulse control for a friendly adolescent first dog, with a go-home session and one more lesson. Platinum, three weeks at $3,750, is for the dog whose puppyhood turned into barking and lunging at other dogs on the trail, guarding the door or panicking when the family leaves; it adds behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterward, and the lessons are the reason families here choose it.

VIP at $10,000 is six weeks with the Mini-Educator included, transport and an in-home handover included, and unlimited in-home lessons, for a dog finished for off-leash reliability. Few Elyson dogs need it, and our team says so. For a puppy under four months, the Puppy Development Bundle of four private sessions is the right start, $550 in Cypress or $750 in your home, and a stay comes later if it is needed at all.

  • Gold: the adolescent first dog
  • Platinum: barking, lunging, door guarding, separation panic
  • Puppy bundle first for a puppy under four months

Prices and the deposit

Elyson pays the published prices and skips the ride.

Gold $2,500, Platinum $3,750, VIP $10,000. The reservation deposit is $250, it holds the dates, and it comes off the program price. Transport is $250 for pickup and return with the first lesson at your home; at 15 minutes it is a choice rather than a need, and VIP includes it. Being this close means Elyson families can pick up the moment the stay ends and book a lesson on their own trail the same week, which is the fastest way a first dog's training sticks.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

How close is Elyson to the training home?

About 15 minutes outside rush hour: FM 529 to 99, north to 290, then a few minutes to Cypress. Drop-off, the go-home session and the follow-up lessons are all easy at that distance, and the $250 transport is only for families who want the handover at their own door.

This is our first dog. Is board and train too much?

Not for an adolescent that pulls, jumps and ignores the kids; Gold's two weeks give a first-time family a trained dog and a go-home session that teaches the handling from scratch. If the dog is still a puppy under four months, the Puppy Development Bundle is the better start.

Our dog barks at every construction truck. Will that stop?

The quiet cue and a settle on place are core to every program, and a dog that has learned to rest through doors, deliveries and other dogs in the training home comes home able to ignore a truck. The go-home session shows you how to keep it as the street fills in.

Can we see the training home before we book?

The free consultation call comes first, and it is where our team answers everything about the house, the daily routine and the limited number of dogs at a time. Drop-off day is when you see it, and it is fifteen minutes from your door, so the go-home session brings you straight back.

Will the field trips be in Elyson?

Sometimes. At 15 minutes, Elyson's trails and lakes and the new stores along 99 and 529 are within reach of the training home's regular route, alongside the lake and the 290 aisles closer in. Bear Creek Pioneers Park to the east is a follow-up venue once the dog is home.
