Elyson, Katy

Dog training in Elyson: the Katy-Cypress border, fifteen minutes from the training home

Elyson sits on the Katy side of the Cypress border, at FM 529 and the Grand Parkway, with a Katy address and construction still going on around it. Its families are young, the houses are new, the yards are small and fenced, and the dog is very often the first one. First dogs need a plan, and fifteen minutes is close enough for us to be part of it.

How it works from Elyson

Fifteen minutes up 99: drop-off is the normal choice.

The training home is a house in Cypress off 290 near Fry Road, and from Elyson it is about fifteen minutes outside rush hour: FM 529 to the Grand Parkway, north to 290, and in. Almost every Elyson family drops off in person, meets the trainer and sees the house, then comes back for the go-home session at the end. The $250 pickup and return is there if you need it, with the first lesson at your home included.

During the program your dog lives inside with a small number of other dogs, trains every day, and goes on field trips as it earns them. You get photos and video on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, which for a first-time owner is also an education in what the finished behavior looks like. The go-home session hands the handling to you.

Elyson dogs

First puppies, small yards and the builder HOA's rules.

Elyson is full of first dogs: the doodle bought when the house closed, the Lab puppy for the kids, the rescue shepherd mix that seemed calm at the shelter. The yard is small and fenced, the street is new and busy with contractors, and by seven months the puppy pulls, jumps on visitors, barks at the fence and has never been alone without chewing something. None of that is unusual. It is what happens without a plan.

For a puppy under four months the plan is the Puppy Development Bundle. For a dog older than that, Gold installs the manners in two weeks and Platinum adds the behavior work, field trips and unlimited lessons in three. The timeline below is the one we walk first-time owners through on the call.

1

Eight to sixteen weeks: the puppy bundle, crate and potty routines, socialization done right

2

Four to six months: leash, place and door manners at home, with lessons if it slips

3

Six to twelve months: adolescence; a Gold stay resets the pulling and jumping

4

Twelve months and up: Platinum if reactivity or anxiety has appeared

5

Any age: follow-up lessons to keep the rules the same for every family member

Where we train near you

Elyson's trails, the 529 stores and Bear Creek Pioneers Park.

Elyson's own trails and lakes are a good classroom for loose-leash work past strollers, scooters and other new dogs, and the go-home session and follow-up lessons use them. The stores along 99 and FM 529 supply aisles, carts and automatic doors for neutrality. Bear Creek Pioneers Park to the east, run by Harris County Precinct 3, is the big open space for long-line recall and for proofing calm around crowds; the precinct's site has the current rules.

New neighborhoods have their own hazards. Retention ponds are everywhere and a dog goes in on a leash or not at all. Fire ant mounds sit in every fresh lawn. Mosquitoes and heartworm are year-round, so a preventive from your vet is a condition of outdoor work. From May to September the outdoor sessions are early and late, with the pavement checked by hand.

  • Stores on 99 and 529 for neutrality
  • Bear Creek Pioneers Park for recall on a long line
  • Retention ponds on a leash only

Lessons and puppies in Elyson

The puppy bundle at $550 or $750, and lessons at $220 in your home.

The Puppy Development Bundle is four sessions of 45 to 60 minutes for puppies under four months, $550 at the training home or $750 at your house in Elyson. It covers sit, place, stay, recall, crate and potty guidance, socialization, and the prevention of nipping and jumping. It is the single most useful thing a first-time Elyson owner can book, and the earlier the better.

Private lessons for an older dog are $220 in your home or $160 in Cypress, and at fifteen minutes many families come to us. They suit a specific problem, the follow-up after a stay, and the family that wants coaching rather than a full reset. After Platinum and VIP the follow-up lessons are unlimited.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Is Elyson in Katy or Cypress?

Both, in a way. Elyson has a Katy address and sits on the Katy side of the Cypress border at FM 529 and the Grand Parkway. What matters for training is the drive: about fifteen minutes to our home in Cypress outside rush hour, which makes it one of the closest communities we serve.

My puppy is ten weeks old. Is that too young for training?

No. Ten weeks is the right time for the Puppy Development Bundle: four sessions on crate and potty routines, recall, place and socialization, done at your home or in Cypress. Board and train starts later, once the puppy is older and vaccinated, and we will say which on the call.

Do I need to drop off, or will you pick up in Elyson?

Either. Most Elyson families drop off because the training home is fifteen minutes away, and they do the go-home session in Cypress. The $250 transport picks up and returns at your door and includes the first lesson at home. VIP always includes delivery.

What about the builder's HOA rules on dogs?

Read your community documents for leash, fence and nuisance rules; we do not quote them because they change. What training gives you is a dog that walks on a loose leash, stays quiet at the fence and greets visitors calmly, which is the behavior every set of HOA rules is asking for.

Can you train a dog that barks at the construction crews?

Yes. A new neighborhood is a parade of trucks and strangers, and a dog that barks at all of it needs a place command, a settle and a clear rule about the window. Gold covers it for a young dog; Platinum for the dog whose barking has become lunging on the walk.
