Two leashes, one plan
Board and train for two dogs in Houston: together, apart, and what changes
Two dogs rarely have the same problem, and they almost always have one shared problem: each other. The dog who is fine alone becomes a different animal when his housemate is on the leash beside him. A two-dog board and train has to untangle the pair, fix each dog, and then put them back together on purpose.

Who books two at once
Two-dog board and train fits households where the dogs feed off each other.
The pair who pull as a team. Walking two dogs in Bridgeland should not require a harness rated for water skiing. When one dog lunges at a squirrel the other joins in, and the owner ends up walking them separately at 6am and again at 9pm. Both dogs need a loose leash on their own before the double walk is possible.
The bonded pair with one anxious dog. Littermates and long-time housemates often have a dog who cannot function without the other: crying in the crate, refusing food, ignoring commands unless his sibling is in view. Training them apart in the same house is how that dependency loosens without a traumatic separation, and it is the reason we take both dogs at once rather than one at a time.
The household where the dogs fight. If the dogs go at each other over food, a doorway or a person, that is a multi-dog aggression case and Platinum is the minimum. Two dogs also take two of the limited spots in the home, so our team confirms on the consultation that both can be accommodated on the same dates.
- Two pullers who make a double walk impossible
- A bonded pair where one dog cannot cope alone
- Housemates who squabble or fight over resources
- Families who want both dogs on the same rules at the same time

Apart, then together
The dogs train separately for most of the stay and are reunited deliberately at the end.
Drop-off. Both dogs come to the Cypress training home together, or our team collects them in one $250 transport run. From the first evening they are crated separately and walked separately. This surprises owners, who expected the dogs to comfort each other. The purpose is to find out who each dog is when the other is not there, and the answer is often a calmer dog than expected.
The middle of the stay is two individual programs running side by side. Each dog gets his own sessions, his own trigger work if he needs it, and his own Monday, Wednesday and Friday videos. The final days bring them together: walking as a pair, holding place on two beds, waiting at one door. The go-home session hands you two leashes and shows you how to run both dogs on one set of rules.
Days 1 to 2: separate crates, separate walks, separate meals; a baseline video of each dog alone and a second of the two together.
Days 3 to 7: individual obedience for each dog: sit/stay, place/stay, loose leash and door boundaries, taught with the other dog out of sight.
Days 8 to 10: each dog works within sight of the other but not beside him: place across the room, heel past the other's crate.
Days 11 to 13 (Gold) or 11 to 17 (Platinum): paired work begins: side-by-side heel, two beds in one room, one door for two dogs; Platinum pairs add field trips together.
Final days: proofing the pair with a second handler, then the go-home session with both dogs and both leashes, and a written plan for walks, doors and feeding at home.
Price and inclusions
Each dog is priced at his own program, and the programs can be different lengths.
There is no bundled two-dog rate and no invented one. Each dog is enrolled in the program our team recommends for him, at that program's published price, and the two do not have to match. A common pairing is one dog in Gold at $2,500 for manners and the other in Platinum at $3,750 for reactivity, with both in the house on overlapping dates. Every inclusion applies per dog, including the go-home session, the additional lesson in Gold and the unlimited private lessons in Platinum.
The $250 reservation deposit. A deposit is paid per dog, because each dog holds a spot, and each is applied toward that dog's program. With the home keeping a limited number of dogs, two adjacent spots need more notice than one, so our team recommends reserving early for pairs, particularly around the holidays and the start of summer when the calendar is tightest.
- Standard program price per dog; lengths can differ
- One $250 transport run covers the pick-up and return
- A $250 deposit per dog holds both spots
- Two dogs use two of the limited places, so book ahead
| Program per dog | Length | Price per dog | What each dog receives |

Houston specifics
Two dogs in Houston means double the heat exposure and half the sidewalk.
Walking two dogs on a narrow Heights sidewalk or a Memorial Villages street with no sidewalk at all is a spacing problem before it is a training problem. Paired heel work in the last days of the stay is done on the residential streets around the training home, where cars, fence dogs and joggers force the pair to move as one unit at the handler's side.
Heat is harder to manage with two. From May through September the paired walks happen at first light and after sunset, and a two-dog family gets a specific summer plan at the go-home session: shorter double walks, indoor place work in the afternoon, water for both. If the stay falls in hurricane season, both dogs are on the same storm plan, crated and ready to move together, and Ready Harris is where we send families to build theirs.
- Paired heel proofed on Cypress streets before your own
- Summer double walks at dawn and dusk, with a written plan for home
- One storm plan covering both dogs through November 30
- Katy and Tomball pairs are 25 to 35 minutes away; Spring about 20 to 30
The programs
The programs a pair is usually split between.
Most two-dog households end up with one dog in Gold and one in Platinum, or both in Platinum. Our team decides per dog on the consultation.
Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
How much is board and train for two dogs in Houston?
Each dog is priced at his own program: $2,500 for the two-week Gold or $3,750 for the three-week Platinum, per dog. The dogs can be in different programs. Transportation is a single $250 for both, and a $250 reservation deposit is paid per dog and applied to that dog's program total.
Do the two dogs stay together during board and train?
They live in the same house at the same time but are crated, walked and trained separately for most of the stay. Our trainers reunite them deliberately in the final days so the pair learns to heel, hold place and wait at doors together. That order is what produces two dogs who behave as well together as apart.
Can two dogs do different programs at the same time?
Yes, and it is common. One dog might need Gold for manners while the other needs Platinum for reactivity or guarding. They arrive together, the Gold dog goes home after two weeks with a go-home session, and the Platinum dog stays a third week for field trips before his own handover, which includes the paired work.
What if my two dogs fight with each other?
That is dog-to-dog aggression inside the household and Platinum is the minimum for both dogs. Our trainers separate them fully, build obedience and impulse control in each, then reintroduce them under structure with place beds, leashes and clear rules around food and doors. The handover includes a management plan, because two dogs who have fought need supervision as well as training.
Will separating them during the stay upset a bonded pair?
Usually less than owners fear. A dog who has never been alone often relaxes once he learns the world does not end without his sibling, and that independence is the point. Both dogs are in the same house, can hear and smell each other, and are brought back together before they go home, so the separation is structured, not sudden.
