Can two dogs do board and train together?
Two-dog families usually ask this because one dog is the problem and the other copies him. Here is how a pair is handled in a home-based stay, why separate comes before together, and where the money and the logistics land.

The short version
Same dates, separate training, then the pair is put back together on purpose.
Both dogs live in our trainer's home in Cypress for the same stay, but they do not train side by side at first. Each gets his own sessions, his own walks and his own field trips, because a dog working next to his housemate is either leading or hiding. The confident one performs and the other one leans on him, and neither learns. Once each dog holds the basics alone, the pair is reunited for the skills that only exist in a pair: walking together, waiting at the door together, place on separate beds while the other is released.
Separate does not mean isolated. The dogs see each other, rest in the same house and are managed together in the evenings once both can be calm. What we avoid is letting the pair reinforce the old habits in the first week, which is exactly what happens when two dogs are trained as one unit from day one.
- Same drop-off, same go-home session, separate sessions early on
- Pair work starts when each dog can sit, place and walk alone
- Priced per dog: $2,500 each for Gold, $3,750 each for Platinum
- Fighting between the dogs is a different conversation, had first
The reasoning
Two dogs are not twice the work; they are a different kind of work.
The reason to bring both is that the household is the unit that changes. If one dog goes home with a wait at the door and the other still bolts, the trained dog learns within a week that the rule is optional. Doors, meals, greetings and walks are pair behaviors, and the go-home session for two dogs teaches you to run them as a pair: who is released first, how the leashes are held, where each bed goes.
The limit is space. Only a limited number of dogs live in the training home at once, and two from one family take two of those places, so booking a pair needs more notice than booking one. Transport is $250 door-to-door and includes the first lesson in your home; ask our team how it works for a pair, because one person walking two untrained dogs to a car in a Katy driveway is where the trouble usually starts.
- Doors, meals, greetings and walks are pair skills
- A trained dog next to an untrained one learns the rule is optional
- Two places in a small house means booking earlier
For your dogs
Littermates, mismatched ages and dogs that fight each get a different plan.
Two puppies under four months are a bundle case, not a stay, and littermates especially need time apart at home to become individuals; our trainer sets that up in the four in-home sessions at $750. Two adults with manners problems are the ideal pair for Gold. A young dog and a senior can come together, with the senior's sessions shorter and his walks in the cool hours.
Dogs that fight each other are a separate question. Our team asks about the fights on the phone consultation: how many, over what, whether either dog has been hurt. Some pairs come in for Platinum with strict separation and a slow, muzzled reintroduction late in the stay. Some are better served by one dog coming at a time. We say which, and we do not promise that two dogs who have drawn blood will become friends.
Houston reality
Walking two dogs through Towne Lake or along a Bridgeland trail is the final exam.
Pair field trips come last, and they use the same places single dogs do: the pet and hardware stores along 290 and Fry Road, the Towne Lake boardwalk with its patios and strollers, the Josey Lake trail with cyclists coming from behind. Two dogs in a heel past a patio table is a real test. From May to September those outings are morning and evening, since two dogs on hot pavement means two sets of pads to check.
Then the house. The go-home session covers the two-dog routine in whichever setting you choose: at the training home in Cypress or, with transport, in your own hallway where the door-dashing happens. Central Houston families are about 30 to 45 minutes away and Spring about 20 to 30, and the first lesson at home is where we watch you run both dogs through the front door.
Feed the dogs in separate spots, each on a wait, released one at a time.
Walk them separately for the first week home, then together with the calmer dog nearest you.
Two place beds, apart, with the more excitable dog sent first.
Release from the door one at a time by name, never both at once.
Greet guests with both dogs on place; release the calmer dog first.
Book a follow-up lesson for the first two-dog walk in your neighborhood.
The programs
Both dogs enroll in the program that fits each of them.
Most pairs come in for Gold, two weeks at $2,500 per dog, when the issues are pulling, jumping and doors. When one dog is reactive or the pair fights, that dog needs Platinum, three weeks at $3,750, with its behavior modification and unlimited lessons, and the other dog can do Gold on overlapping dates. Every stay ends with a single go-home session for the family, one extra lesson in Gold and unlimited lessons in Platinum.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Do I get a discount for two dogs?
Programs are priced per dog, because each dog gets his own sessions, his own field trips and his own place in a small house. What two dogs share is the drop-off, the go-home session and the follow-up lessons, which are run for the household rather than for one dog. Ask our team on the phone consultation about dates and the practical details.
Can my two dogs share a crate?
No, and not at home either. Each dog is crated alone so rest is actually rest and so neither dog learns to depend on the other to feel safe. The crates can be in the same room. Sharing one crate is how a pair of littermates becomes unable to be apart, which is a hard problem to reverse later.
What if only one dog has problems?
Bring the one with the problems and be honest that the other dog has a role in them. Often the calm dog is fine and the stay for one is enough, with the go-home session covering how the pair walks and greets. If the second dog is quietly running the house, our team will say so and suggest both come.
Can one dog do Gold and the other Platinum?
Yes, and it is common. The reactive dog does three weeks at $3,750 and the easier housemate does two weeks at $2,500 on overlapping dates, so both go home together. Our team lines up the dates so the go-home session covers the pair, and the Platinum dog's unlimited lessons cover the two-dog walks afterward.
