Dog training in Sugar Land: Riverstone to Telfair, pickup available

Sugar Land is master-planned from Telfair to Riverstone, which means HOA rules, sidewalks everywhere, pools in most backyards and a golden retriever or doodle in most of them. The training those dogs need is calm in a busy neighborhood, and the training home in Cypress is built for exactly that.

How it works from Sugar Land

Drop off in Cypress, or we come to Riverstone, Telfair or Sienna.

Sugar Land to Cypress is a real drive, 99 the whole way, and it is the reason most Sugar Land families add the transportation service. We pick your dog up at your door, the drive is the first field trip, and when the program ends we bring the dog home and run the go-home session in your house: place at your door, the walk on your street, calm with your family. The $250 covers both legs and that lesson.

Families who prefer to drop off do so at the training home in Cypress, off 290 near Fry Road, and do the go-home session there. Either way, your dog lives in the house, not a kennel, and you get photo and video updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

  • $250 pickup and return, first lesson in your home included
  • Transport included in the six-week VIP program
  • Drop-off families do the go-home session in Cypress
  • Updates three times a week either way

Sugar Land dogs

Sidewalk manners, pool manners and the HOA letter.

The Sugar Land dog problems we see are the problems of a well-kept neighborhood: a doodle that drags its owner down the Riverstone sidewalks toward every other dog, a Lab that launches into the pool at every party, a shepherd that barks at the window from morning to night and prompts a note from the association. None of them are aggression; all of them are a dog with too little structure and too much stimulation.

Board and train fixes them by installing the structure first, place, a structured walk, door manners and impulse control, and then proofing it in public places like the ones your dog will live in. A Riverstone sidewalk at six in the evening is a good exposure environment, and a Town Square patio is a good final exam.

  • Loose leash past the neighbors' dogs
  • Place on the patio and by the pool until released
  • Quiet at the window when the delivery van stops
  • A recall that beats the ducks at Oyster Creek

Where we train near you

Oyster Creek, Town Square and the stores off Highway 6.

Platinum and VIP field trips near Sugar Land use the Oyster Creek Park trails for loose-leash work past runners and strollers, the pet and hardware stores along Highway 6 for neutrality around carts and people, and the Town Square patios for the settle that lets a dog come to dinner. For families who take lessons in their home, we work on your own street and in your own yard, because that is where the behavior has to hold.

Sugar Land summers are as hot as anywhere in the metro, so from May to September outdoor work happens before nine and after seven and the store aisles carry the afternoons.

Programs and prices

Every price is published, and Sugar Land families mostly choose Gold or Platinum.

The two-week Gold program ($2,500) handles the manners set: jumping, pulling, place, doors and impulse control. The three-week Platinum ($3,750) adds behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterwards, and it is the program for a reactive or anxious dog. The six-week VIP ($10,000) is complete off-leash reliability with transport and the in-home handover included. Private lessons in your Sugar Land home are $220, and the Puppy Development Bundle is $750 in-home or $550 in Cypress.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Do you pick up in Sugar Land?

Yes. The $250 transportation service collects your dog at your door in Riverstone, Telfair, Sienna, First Colony or anywhere in Sugar Land, brings it home at the end of the program and includes the first lesson in your house. It is included in the VIP program.

How far is Sugar Land from the training home?

About 45 to 55 minutes to Cypress via Grand Parkway outside rush hour. It is far enough that most families take the pickup, and close enough that a drop-off family can do the go-home session in Cypress on a Saturday morning.

Can you do private lessons in my Sugar Land home?

Yes, at $220 per session. In-home lessons suit a specific problem, a puppy under four months, or the follow-up after a board and train. Our team tells you on the free call whether lessons or a stay is the right fit for your dog.

Where do the field trips go for a Sugar Land dog?

Near the training home in Cypress during the stay: sidewalks, stores, parks and the lake. When transport brings the dog home, the go-home session and any follow-up lessons use your own street, Oyster Creek Park and the stores off Highway 6, because that is where your dog lives.
