Board and train, Rosenberg

Board and train in Rosenberg: for Rosenberg and the west Fort Bend side

Rosenberg dogs live with more space and more livestock than most of the metro, and a working breed on acreage needs a recall that beats a loose chicken. The stay happens in a house, not a kennel, and the handover comes back to the property where the dog actually lives.

The stay, from Rosenberg

A pickup at the gate, then two to six weeks in a house off 290.

A Rosenberg stay usually begins in your driveway. Our trainer arrives with the transport, meets the dog on its own ground, and the drive up 99 to Cypress doubles as the first car lesson. Families who prefer to drive themselves drop off at the training home, about 45 to 50 minutes outside rush hour, with the food, the vet records and any medication the dog takes. Either way the first day is quiet: a walk, the crate, meals on place, and no pressure to perform.

From day two the program runs every day, in the house and on the sidewalks, stores and lake near Cypress. You see it in photos and clips on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. At the end, transport families get the go-home session at their own property, which for Rosenberg means the long driveway, the barn and the fence line. Drop-off families do the handover at the training home and drive south with the dog.

What a Rosenberg dog practices

Recall past livestock, a trail walk at Seabourne Creek and store manners on 59.

The skills a Rosenberg dog needs are set by the land. A herding mix or a cattle dog on acreage has to come back when a deer breaks cover or a neighbor's goat gets out, and that recall is built on a long line first, then proofed around real distractions. Loose-leash walking gets tested at Seabourne Creek Nature Park, where the trails carry joggers, strollers and other dogs, and the settle gets tested on a patio in downtown Rosenberg or in the aisles of the stores along 59.

During the stay itself the training happens around Cypress: the lake near the training home for water manners, the hardware and pet stores on 290, and the neighborhood sidewalks where every house has a dog behind a fence. The go-home session then moves the same work to your ground. Seabourne Creek's rules for dogs are set by the City of Rosenberg, so check the park's page for the current leash rule before you walk there.

  • A recall that holds when livestock moves
  • A loose leash on the Seabourne Creek trails
  • Quiet in the crate and calm at the gate
  • A settle on a downtown patio

Which program

Platinum for the working breed, Gold for the family Lab, VIP for off leash on acreage.

Rosenberg families with a friendly, pulling, jumping dog choose Gold: two weeks, $2,500, and the manners set that makes a Lab or a doodle easy to live with. Families with a dog that lunges at other dogs on the trail, guards the gate or panics in a storm choose Platinum: three weeks, $3,750, with behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterward. Platinum is our most booked program, and for a dog on acreage the extra week matters because the recall and the neutrality take time.

VIP, six weeks at $10,000, is for the family that wants a dog off leash across the whole property with the Mini-Educator introduced correctly, transport home included and unlimited in-home lessons. It is service-dog-level reliability, not service dog certification. Be honest with our team about what the dog does now; the consultation call exists to match the dog to the program, not to sell the biggest one.

  • Gold: manners for the friendly puller
  • Platinum: behavior work, field trips, unlimited lessons
  • VIP: off-leash reliability across acreage

Prices and the deposit

Published prices, a $250 deposit, and $250 transport that most Rosenberg families take.

Every price is published and the same for every address. The $250 reservation deposit holds your dates and comes off the program price. Transport is $250 door to door and includes the first lesson at your home, which is why so many Rosenberg families take it: it saves two long drives and moves the handover to the place the dog lives. VIP includes the transport. Summer stays are as productive as fall ones, because outdoor work moves to early morning and evening from May to September and the store aisles cover the middle of the day.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

How far is Rosenberg from the training home?

About 45 to 50 minutes outside rush hour, up 99 and then west on 290 to Cypress. That is long enough that most Rosenberg families take the $250 pickup and return instead of driving twice, and it also means the go-home session happens at their home rather than ours.

Can my dog learn to leave the chickens and goats alone?

Yes, with the right program. A Platinum stay builds the recall and the leave-it on a long line, then proofs it around real distractions, and the go-home session on your property is where the livestock work is handed over. VIP takes the same dog to off-leash reliability with the e-collar introduced properly.

Will my dog be in a kennel in Cypress?

No. The training home is our trainer's own house, with a limited number of dogs, crates in the home, meals on place and daily training in real places. A farm dog used to space settles well into that structure and comes home calmer indoors than it left.

What if a storm is forecast during the stay?

Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, and our team watches the National Weather Service forecasts. The dogs live in a house with a weather plan, not in runs, and we talk with every family about timing if a storm is tracking toward the coast. Ready.gov's pet page has the household checklist.

Where does the go-home session happen?

At your Rosenberg home if you add the transport or book VIP: our trainer walks the fence line, the driveway and the front door with you. If you drop off and pick up yourself, the session runs at the training home in Cypress, and you can book a follow-up lesson at your house afterward.
