Board and train, Houston
Board and train in Houston: a trainer's home in Cypress, minutes off 290
Most board and train in Houston happens in a facility with runs and a rotation of staff. Ours happens in a house, with a limited number of dogs and the same trainers from drop-off to handover, and that is the difference a city family is choosing when it drives to Cypress.

The stay, from anywhere in Houston
A drive to Cypress or a pickup at your door, then the same program for every dog.
Inner-loop families usually drive to Cypress, about 40 minutes up 290, drop off with the food and records, and come back for the go-home session. Families further out, or families who want the handover in their own home, add the $250 transport: we collect the dog, the drive is the first field trip, and the go-home session happens in your living room, on your street and in your building if you have one. Either way the dog lives in the house with our trainers and you see the work in photo and video updates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
The program does not change with the address. What changes is the go-home session, which is built around the dog's real life: the elevator for a Midtown dog, the bayou trail for a Heights dog, the gate for a Memorial dog.

What Houston dogs learn
The walk, the door, the settle and the neutrality a city asks for.
A Houston dog needs a loose leash on a sidewalk with a dog every block, quiet at a door that opens for deliveries all day, a settle at the patios the city lives on, and neutrality to bikes, runners, strollers and other dogs on the trails. Gold builds the manners; Platinum builds the neutrality and the behavior work for the reactive, anxious or guarding dog and comes with unlimited lessons; VIP produces the dog that walks off leash where the rules allow. The go-home session for a city family often includes a stretch of Memorial Park or the Heights trail, because that is the exam.
The store aisles along 290 and I-10 are where the neutrality is built when the pavement is too hot, which in Houston is five months of the year.
- A loose leash past a dog every block
- Quiet at a door that opens all day
- A settle at the patio
- Neutrality on the loop and the trails

Houston specifics
The inner-loop drive, the apartment dog and the summer.
The drive to Cypress from the Heights, Memorial or River Oaks is a straightforward 290 or I-10 trip outside rush hour, and most inner-loop families make it twice; the transport is worth it for a townhome or apartment dog whose problems live in a hallway and an elevator, because the handover then happens there. Summer is built into the schedule: dawn and after-dark outdoors, store aisles and the lake at midday, so a July stay is as productive as an October one. The city's leash laws and BARC's licensing apply to every dog in the program, and the Houston dog life guides on this site cover the parks and trails the go-home session uses.
- A 290 or I-10 drive from the inner loop
- Transport for townhome and apartment dogs
- Summer built into the schedule
- Go-home sessions at Memorial Park, the bayou or your hallway

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Where is the board and train, and how far is it from central Houston?
In our trainer's home in Cypress, off 290 near Fry Road, about 30 to 45 minutes from the inner loop outside rush hour. Families drop off there or add the $250 pickup and return anywhere in greater Houston.
Is it a kennel?
No. Your dog lives in a house with our trainers and a limited number of other dogs, sleeps in a crate in the home, eats on place in the kitchen and trains in everyday environments. That is why the results transfer to your home.
Which program do most Houston families choose?
Platinum, the three-week program at $3,750, because it covers reactivity, anxiety and aggression as well as manners, includes field trips into public places, and comes with unlimited private lessons afterwards. Gold at $2,500 fits a friendly dog that only needs manners.
Can the go-home session happen in my Midtown apartment?
Yes, with the $250 transport or as part of VIP. The elevator, the hallway and the sidewalk outside your building are where an apartment dog's training has to hold, and the handover is run there.
