Board and train, Atascocita

Board and train in Atascocita: transport from the 1960 corridor, or a Saturday drop-off

Atascocita is master-planned lakeside neighborhoods with HOAs, boats and docks on Lake Houston, kids on every cul-de-sac and a lot of Labs. Its dogs need water manners, a loose leash past the neighbors and a settle when the house is full, and the stay is built for that.

The stay, from Atascocita

Pickup from the 1960 corridor on a weekday, or a Saturday drive to Cypress.

Two ways to start. The first is the $250 transport: our trainer comes to your door in Atascocita, does the first lesson in your house so the whole family sees the handling, and drives the dog to Cypress, where the vehicle ride and the calm arrival are the first lesson in patience. The second is a weekend drop-off, since the training home takes drop-offs from 6am to 9pm daily and a Saturday morning run down the Beltway is about 45 to 55 minutes outside rush hour.

After a quiet first day the program runs daily in the training home and on the sidewalks, in the stores and at the lake near it, where the water work for a Lake Houston dog begins. Photos and video come Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The go-home session is at your house if the dog rode with us or is a VIP graduate, with the dock and the cul-de-sac as the classroom, and at the training home if you plan to drive back out for it.

What an Atascocita dog practices

Water manners at the dock, a loose leash on the greenbelt and a settle when the house is full.

A lakeside Lab has three habits worth fixing: it launches off the dock without asking, it drags you down the greenbelt toward every other dog, and it cannot settle when the neighbors' kids pour through the front door. The stay builds a wait at the water's edge and a recall out of it at the lake near the training home, the structured walk and neutrality on the Cypress sidewalks, and place with a real settle while people come and go in the house.

On the go-home visit those skills move to your ground: the dock on Lake Houston, the Eagle Springs or Summerwood greenbelt, the FM 1960 stores at Atascocita for a store aisle, and Jesse H. Jones Park, a Harris County Precinct 4 park with wooded trails, for a walk with other dogs at a distance. Check the precinct's site for current rules and hours before you take the dog yourself, and check your HOA documents for leash rules on the greenbelts.

  • A wait at the dock and a recall out of the water
  • A loose leash on the neighborhood greenbelt
  • A settle on place while kids come and go
  • Neutrality past other dogs at Jesse Jones Park

Which program Atascocita families choose

Gold for the friendly Lab, Platinum for the lunger, VIP for the boat and the shore.

Gold at $2,500 fits the friendly, over-excited retriever: two weeks of sit and stay, place, loose leash, door boundaries, jumping, pulling and impulse control, with a go-home session, one added lesson and lifelong support. Platinum at $3,750 is the fit when the greenbelt pulling is really lunging, or the dog guards the dock or panics during storms; three weeks adds behavior modification, field trips and unlimited private lessons afterwards, and it is the program we book most.

VIP at $10,000 makes sense for the family with a boat, a lake lot and a dog they want reliable off leash on the dock and the shore: six weeks, the Mini-Educator included and introduced properly, transport home and the handover at your house with unlimited in-home lessons. Silver at $1,500 is a one-week refresher for a graduate before the summer season.

  • Gold for the friendly retriever with no manners
  • Platinum for lunging, guarding and storm anxiety
  • VIP for off leash on the dock and the shore

Prices and the deposit

The published prices, and $250 that saves two trips down the Beltway.

Gold is $2,500, Platinum $3,750 and VIP $10,000. A $250 reservation deposit secures your dates; it is part of the price, not an extra. Transport is $250 for door-to-door pickup and return with the first lesson at your home, included in VIP, and from Atascocita it replaces two 50-minute drives with a handover on your own dock. Families who prefer to drive can drop off any day between 6am and 9pm and come back for the go-home session in Cypress.

Private lessons afterwards are $160 at the training home or $220 at your house; Platinum and VIP include them without limit, and the in-home version makes sense at this distance. Boarding with training refreshers is available for graduates, which is useful for a lake family that travels in summer. The pricing page has every number, and the consultation call is free.

Atascocita specifics

Lake Houston in July, alligators in the shallows and a storm plan for a lake lot.

Summer on Lake Houston means water at every turn and a dog that wants in, so the wait at the edge is not optional; alligators are present in Houston-area lakes and bayous, and a dog that enters the water only when released is a safer dog. From May to September outdoor sessions run early and late with store aisles at midday, and the dock work happens in the cooler hours. Hurricane season, June 1 to November 30, is planned at booking, including who moves the dog if the family leaves the lake early. Fire ants along the greenbelt and year-round mosquitoes are part of the go-home talk.

  • A wait at the water that holds until released
  • Early and late sessions in summer
  • Storm-season plan for a lake lot
  • Fire ant and heartworm awareness

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

How far is Atascocita from the training home?

About 45 to 55 minutes outside rush hour, by Beltway 8 from FM 1960 to 290 near Fry Road in Cypress. That is why most Atascocita families use the $250 transport, and why the families who drive tend to pick a weekend morning for drop-off.

Can I drop off on a Saturday?

Yes. We take calls and drop-offs from 6am to 9pm every day of the week, so a Saturday or Sunday morning works. If you drop off, plan to drive back out for the go-home session at the training home, which is where the handover happens for drop-off families.

Will my dog learn to stay out of the lake?

It will learn to wait at the edge and enter only when released, and to come out when called, built at the lake near the training home on a long line and finished on your dock at the go-home session. Platinum covers that for most dogs; VIP takes it to full off-leash reliability on the shore.

Our HOA is strict about leashes and barking. Does that change anything?

It makes the structured walk and the quiet cue more valuable. Both are core to Gold and Platinum, and the go-home session covers the greenbelt walk and the window. We do not quote HOA rules; check your community's documents for the current version and tell our team what they require.

Where is the go-home session for Atascocita?

At your house for transport families and every VIP graduate, with the dock, the greenbelt and the front door as the classroom. At the training home in Cypress for families who drove out for drop-off and plan to drive back.
