Board and train · What is promised
Does board and train come with a guarantee?
The question is a fair one, and it usually comes from a family that has been burned before. Here is what a result promise is really worth, what you can hold us to instead, and how to check any program before you hand over a deposit.

The short version
We promise the work and the support, not the dog, because the dog is not ours to promise.
A dog's behavior depends on its history, its health, its genetics and what happens in its home after training ends. A trainer controls the stay, not the next ten years. So when someone promises a finished dog, the promise usually comes with conditions that make it hard to use, or it quietly means the dog can be sent back for more of the same program.
What we can promise are the things we control. Your dog lives in a house, not a kennel. The same trainer works it from drop-off to the handover. You see the work three times a week on video. The go-home session teaches you the handling. And after the stay, our team stays available for the life of the dog on every program from Gold up.
- A home, not a kennel run
- One trainer from drop-off to the handover
- Photos and video three times a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday
- A go-home session that teaches you the handling
- Support after the stay on Gold, Platinum and VIP
Why an outcome promise is a warning
A trainer who promises a cured aggressive dog is telling you something about the trainer.
Aggression and reactivity change with good work. The fuse gets longer, the recovery gets faster and the family learns to manage the moments that remain. They are not deleted, and a program that claims otherwise either has not met many aggressive dogs or is selling. Our training methods page lists this among the things we never do, in writing.
Look closely at how promises elsewhere are usually worded. A promise that depends on the family following every instruction perfectly, or that is honored only with more days in the same place, leaves the risk with you. A plain description of what is included, and a team that tells you on the first call what your dog can realistically reach, is more useful than any line on a contract.
- Reactivity and aggression: reduced and managed, not erased
- Watch for promises that depend on perfect owners
- Watch for promises that only buy more of the same
- Prefer a plain list of inclusions and an honest first call
How to protect yourself
Ask the questions before the deposit, and get the answers in writing by text.
You can protect yourself far better than any promise could. Ask where the dog sleeps, who handles it, how a new command is taught before any tool is used, and how often you see unedited video. Ask what the program costs in full, what is included after the stay and what happens to the deposit if your plans change. A program that answers all of that clearly is safer than one that promises results and goes vague on the details.
For a Best Dog University stay, the $250 reservation deposit holds your dates and comes off the program price. Our policies page says it plainly: ask our team about the deposit and any refund before you pay, and the terms of your reservation are confirmed with you by phone or text. Date changes are handled the same way: call or text as early as you can, and the reservation moves where the calendar allows.

What we do at Best Dog University
Every program's inclusions are published, and that list is what you can hold us to.
Silver, one week at $1,500, ends with a go-home session. Gold, two weeks at $2,500, adds one further lesson and lifelong support. Platinum, three weeks at $3,750 and our most popular program, adds field trips, behavior modification, unlimited private lessons and lifetime support. VIP, six weeks at $10,000, includes the Mini-Educator e-collar, transport home, an in-home handover and unlimited in-home lessons.
Those inclusions are the practical form of standing behind the work. If something slips at home, the lesson or the support call is already paid for, and most slips are fixed in a single session. It is less exciting than a promise of a perfect dog, and it is worth more, because it is still there when life in Houston changes and the dog changes with it.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Will you retrain my dog for free if it slips?
On Platinum and VIP, unlimited lessons are included for as long as you own the dog, so a slip is worked in a lesson at no extra charge. On Gold, one lesson is included and lifelong support means you can call our team for a next step. A second full stay is a separate booking.
Can I get my money back if I am not happy?
We do not publish a refund formula, and we will not make one up here. Ask our team about refunds and the deposit before you pay, and the terms for your reservation are confirmed with you by phone or text. Asking early means there is nothing to discover later.
Why do some trainers offer a promise of results?
Usually because it sells. Read the conditions: many depend on the owner following every instruction perfectly, or they offer more time in the same program rather than money back. A plain list of what is included, and an honest read of your dog on the first call, protects you better than a slogan.
Is there a promise my dog will not be hurt?
We cannot promise a living dog will never be hurt anywhere, and nobody honestly can. What we control is the care: a home rather than a kennel, a limited number of dogs, heat planning, vaccination records for every dog, and a call to you first if anything changes. The safety answer on this site explains it.
