Dog parks in Spring, TX: Pundt, Meyer and the greenway
Spring is where our trainers send a Cypress-side dog when it is ready for a fenced park that is not the busiest one in town. It has all three kinds of outing in one corner of the county.

Three parks, three jobs
Pundt is for the fence, Meyer for open ground, the Greenway for distance.
Pundt Park sits along Spring Creek east of I-45, with a fenced off-leash dog area and trails that join the Greenway. Meyer Park, west of I-45 near Cypresswood, has wide fields and paths that suit long-line work. The Greenway ties the creek parks together with miles of shaded trail. All three are Precinct 4 parks, and Precinct 4 posts hours, closures and rule changes. Weekday mornings are calm at each; cool Saturdays in October are not.
Parking at Pundt fills near the dog area first, so park farther out and walk in. That short walk is useful: it lets the dog see and hear the fenced area before it reaches the gate, which is where most dog-park trouble begins. A dog that has had two minutes to take in the barking arrives calmer than one that is marched straight up to it.

Our sequence
We start at Meyer, move to Pundt's fence line, and go inside last.
A dog in a Platinum stay that is working toward an off-leash park visits Meyer first. The open fields give room for recall on a long line with other dogs in sight but far away. Then a session outside Pundt's fence, on leash, watching the play from a distance the dog can hold without staring or whining. Only after a calm session at the fence does a dog go inside, on a long line, into the quieter section, for ten minutes.
The Greenway is where we practice the walk itself: a loose leash past bikes and joggers under the trees. A dog that holds a heel for a mile of Greenway arrives at any gate in a better state than one that jumped straight from the car. We alternate Greenway days and park days through the middle of a typical stay.

Posted rules
Precinct 4 posts the dog-area rules; the gate manners are yours.
At the time of writing, Precinct 4's rules for its off-leash areas cover the usual ground: current vaccinations, owners present and watching, cleanup, and dogs leashed until they are inside the fence. Some rules, such as limits on young puppies, dogs in season or toys and food inside the area, vary by park and can change, so read the posted sign at the gate and the Precinct 4 page before your first visit. Outside the fence, every trail is leashed.
The etiquette that prevents fights is not on the sign. Do not enter while a crowd is waiting at the gate. Keep moving once inside instead of standing by the entrance. Call your dog away from any play that goes stiff. Leave if your dog starts guarding a ball or a water bowl. Leaving early after a good visit is never a failure; staying through a bad one usually is.
- Leashed until the gate closes behind you
- Enter when the gate area is clear
- Move away from the entrance once inside
- Call your dog out of stiff play early
- No toys or food if the dog guards them
Wrong day
Creek floods, summer afternoons and the first cool Saturday.
Spring Creek rises fast, and the low trails at Pundt and along the Greenway go underwater and stay muddy for days after a big rain. Precinct 4 closes sections; respect it, and stay off anything with standing water. The creek is also home to snakes and, in warm months, alligators, which is another reason to keep every dog on a short leash near the bank.
The fenced area at Pundt has open ground that heats up quickly. From May to September the visit is at first light, with water in the car and a firm stop at heavy panting. And on the first cool weekend each fall, half of north Houston brings its dog, which makes a busy gate for a dog on only its third visit.
- Closed or flooded creek trails
- Open ground after about 8am in summer
- A crowd waiting at the gate
- A dog that barks or stiffens at the fence line
The neighbors
Klein, Gleannloch Farms and Augusta Pines are ten minutes away.
Spring is about 20 to 30 minutes from the training home in Cypress outside rush hour, close enough for families to drop off and pick up and for Platinum dogs to visit these parks on field trips. The Spring hub page covers the programs and logistics. Klein families use Meyer Park daily, and Gleannloch Farms and Augusta Pines sit just west along FM 2920.
Our Pundt Park, Meyer Park and Spring Creek Greenway pages go deeper on each place. If your dog is not yet ready for any fenced area, the same walk on the Greenway is the right place to start, and Tomball's Burroughs Park is a quieter alternative to the north. Both are leashed parks where a young or reactive dog can learn at a distance it can hold.

Asked and answered
Questions people ask about this.
Which park in Spring has an off-leash dog area?
Pundt Park, a Harris County Precinct 4 park along Spring Creek, has a fenced off-leash dog area at the time of writing. Precinct 4 posts the current rules and closures, and the area closes after heavy rain. Precinct 4 also lists which of its other Spring parks, such as Meyer, have fenced dog areas, so check the current list. The leashed Greenway is where we build the skills a fence needs.
Is Pundt Park good for a first off-leash visit?
It can be, on a weekday morning with few dogs and a recall already built on a long line. Walk in from the far end of the lot, watch from outside the fence first, and go into the quieter section for a short visit. Cool weekends are too busy for a first try.
Can I let my dog off leash on the Greenway?
No. The Greenway is a leashed trail at the time of writing, and it runs along a creek with snakes, alligators in warm months, deer and cyclists. A long line in the open fields at Meyer Park gives a dog room to run while you keep control of the recall.
My puppy is four months old. Can we go to Pundt?
Not inside the fence yet. Young puppies can be knocked over and frightened by adult dogs, and one bad day can shape how a dog feels about other dogs for years. Walk the Greenway on a leash, watch the dog area from a distance, and wait until the puppy is older and more solid.
How far is Spring from your training home?
About 20 to 30 minutes outside rush hour. Many Spring and Klein families drop off at the training home in Cypress, and the go-home session happens there. Families who prefer the $250 door-to-door transport get the first lesson at home, often including a walk in the park they use most.
