Aggression training cost

Aggressive dog training cost in Houston: what a real plan costs

Aggression is the search where price shopping goes wrong most often, because the cheapest quote is usually the one that skips the daily exposure work. This page gives our two real prices, explains what each buys, says what a lesson can and cannot do, and is plain about the fact that reduced and managed is the outcome, not cured.

Side by side

Two programs handle aggression here, and the difference is history and goal.

Platinum is three weeks in our trainer's home in Cypress with behavior modification built in. The dog first learns structure: place, thresholds, a structured heel, calm in the crate. Then our trainers run daily, graded exposure to the trigger, whether it is other dogs on a Cypress sidewalk, strangers at the door or a hand near the food bowl, at a distance the dog can handle and closer over the days. Field trips move that work into public. Afterward: a comprehensive handover, unlimited private lessons and lifetime support.

VIP is six weeks and is where our team places dogs with a bite history, aggression that has escalated, or a family who needs the dog reliable off leash despite it. The extra weeks buy a deeper change in the dog's default, and the in-home handover plus unlimited in-home lessons keep our trainers in the rooms where the problem happened. The Mini-Educator e-collar and transport home are included. Lessons at $160 or $220 support either program; they are not a substitute for one.

When Platinum wins

Platinum wins for most aggression cases, and it is the cheaper of the two real options.

A Shepherd who lunges at dogs on the Spring Creek Greenway, a Doodle who growls when a guest reaches for him, a Heeler who guards the couch from the kids, a rescue who snaps when the leash goes on: these are Platinum dogs. No bite has landed, the family can still manage the dog, and three weeks of structure plus daily exposure changes the pattern. The unlimited lessons afterward are where the family learns to keep it changed.

Platinum also wins when the family's goal is a manageable dog rather than a finished one. Most families want to walk the neighborhood, have friends over and stop worrying, and that is what Platinum delivers. Sudden aggression in an adult dog that has never shown it is worth a vet visit before any program, to rule out pain, and our team will ask about that on the call.

  • Growling, snapping or lunging with no bite that broke skin
  • The family can still handle and manage the dog
  • The goal is a safe, walkable, manageable dog
  • You want lessons for life at the training home
  • Budget is $3,750, not $10,000

When VIP wins

VIP wins when a bite has happened, the pattern has escalated, or the dog must be reliable off leash.

A dog who has bitten a person or another dog, a dog whose aggression has grown from growling to lunging to contact over months, a dog in a household with young children where the margin for error is gone: these cases need six weeks, and pretending three will do is how families end up back at the start. The added time builds a deeper default, and the in-home handover puts our trainer in the actual hallway or yard where it happened.

VIP is also the program for the family who needs off-leash reliability despite the history: acreage in Magnolia or Hockley, a working property, a life where the dog will not always be on a leash. The e-collar is included and conditioned only after every command is reliable on leash, and it is never introduced as a punishment for the aggression itself. The outcome is aggression that is greatly reduced and reliably managed, with our team on call for life.

  • A bite to a person or a dog
  • Aggression that has escalated over months
  • Young children or a vulnerable person in the home
  • Off-leash reliability is a genuine need
  • You want every follow-up lesson in your own home

What Houston families choose

Houston families choose Platinum for most cases and VIP for the ones that have already gone wrong.

The pattern our team sees is that families call late. The growling started a year ago, a lesson or a class was tried, and the call comes after a near miss at a Katy dog park or a snap at a visiting grandparent. Most of those dogs still fit Platinum. The ones who have bitten, or whose family has a baby on the way, go to VIP, and the families who choose it rarely regret the extra three weeks.

Houston adds its own pressure. Fence-line fights over a Bridgeland fence, door explosions in townhomes where the sidewalk is three feet from the window, and the July 4 and New Year fireworks that tip an anxious dog toward defensive aggression all show up in our calls. Summer schedules push exposure work to early mornings and stores, and hurricane season can force a reschedule of the handover. Our team plans for all of it, and the Monday, Wednesday and Friday videos show the exposure work as it happens.

How to decide

Price an aggression plan honestly in five steps.

The order matters. History first, then goal, then money. Families who start with the budget tend to buy the wrong program and pay for it twice.

1

Write the history: every growl, snap, lunge and bite, with dates. A bite that broke skin moves the plan to VIP.

2

Rule out pain. If the aggression is sudden in an adult dog, see your vet before booking anything.

3

Name the goal: manageable on a leash in public (Platinum, $3,750) or reliable off leash with a history (VIP, $10,000).

4

Budget the follow-up at zero. Lessons and support are included with both programs for the life of the dog.

5

Book the free phone consultation and tell our team everything, including the parts that are embarrassing. The plan is only as good as the history.

Asked and answered

Questions people ask about this.

Can aggression be fixed for less than $3,750?

Sometimes, if the aggression is narrow and mild: one trigger, no bite, a family who can manage daily. An consultation lesson at $160 will tell you honestly whether a short series of lessons could hold. For most cases, though, aggression needs daily controlled exposure with a trainer, and that is a three-week program, not a weekly hour.

Does the price include a cure?

No, and no honest trainer's price does. Most dogs end up far less aggressive and reliably managed provided the family follows through at home, and the unlimited lessons and lifetime support included with Platinum and VIP exist because management is ongoing. What you are buying is a changed default in the dog and a family who knows how to keep it.

Why is Gold not enough for an aggressive dog?

Gold is a two-week obedience program at $2,500. It builds sit/stay, place/stay and leash manners, which help, but it does not include behavior modification or the daily graded exposure to the trigger that aggression needs. Our team will not place an aggression case in Gold, because it would cost you $2,500 and leave the problem in place.

How soon should I book after a bite?

Soon. A dog who has bitten once has learned that it works, and every rehearsal makes the next one likelier. Call our team for the free phone consultation now, manage the dog strictly in the meantime, and expect the recommendation to be VIP. Six weeks feels long; a second bite is far longer.
